Russia Says Moscow Airport Attacked By Ukrainian Drones

Russian media has reported that Moscow Vnukovo Airport in central Moscow has been attacked by drones from Ukraine. Thus far, Ukraine has neither confirmed nor denied these allegations.

Russia: Drones Target Moscow Airport

A series of drone attacks in Moscow earlier today centered on Vnukovo Airport (VNO). The attack was repelled by Russain air defenses, but impacted the departures of flights to Egypt, Turkey, and the United Arab Emirates.

The airport has now reopened. No injuries or structural damage was reported.

A foreign ministry spokesperson laid blame on Ukraine:

“An attempt by the Kyiv regime to attack a zone where civil infrastructure is located, including an airport that receives international flights, is a new terrorist act.”

And daily attacks on Kyiv are not terrorist attacks by the same metric?

Meanwhile, a purported Russian drone attack on Sumy, a city northeastern Ukraine, has killed three.

All may be fair in love and war, but offensive incursions into the Russian Federation don’t strike me as prudent, even though the aim of such attacks is logical. But what do I know?…I am just saddened that there is no end in sight to Russia’s war of aggression in Ukraine.

I will share a few pictures from my trip to Russia in 2007 during which I flew a Tupolev-134 out of Vnukovo.

This was 2008…long before cell phone cameras were decent, hence I only took three pictures and the video below. That was quite an experience flying that jet (such a unique sound the jets made).

To the people of Ukraine and Russia: I pray for peace and the expulsion of Russian occupiers from Eastern Ukraine.

Strikes into Russia is the only chance Ukraine has at obtaining a semi-favorable peace deal.

They need to inflict enough pain on Russia that Russia cannot stomach any further losses. Otherwise. Russia will continue to pour men into the meat grinder and eventually force an unconditional surrender of Ukraine. Another option would be to capture some Russian territory and exchange it for the 2014 borders.

By not attacking into Russia, Russia can replace men and material that are lost on the battlefield. Ukraine needs to take away Russia’s ability to conduct the war

At this juncture you are far more right than wrong. Unless the Russian people begin to rise up and sow dissent within that topples Putin. Again, probably only possible if they begin to actually witness and feel the pain of war.

But your theory depends entirely on NATO giving Ukraine the weapons and planes it needs. Which it is now backtracking a bit on in announcing a delay until next year now for F-16’s. Far too late for the offensive now happening and moving slowly.

Ukraine has their own missiles that have a 3,000 pound warhead.

The Sapsan Hrim-2. That is what they likely fired at the Russian airbase yesterday. However, it is only 70% ready according to Ukraine, which is why it probably should be used as an areal attack missile or not a precision attack missile. Need to use it against targets in a city so that if it misses, the Russian people are reminded that they are at war, whereas it hit an open field Sunday, wasting a perfectly good missile

Now, if they can improve the targeting of it, the Russians are in a heap of trouble as that would make quick qork of their trenches

The audacity of Russia to have (1) launched this war and (2) to have done it in the name of far-right visions of what the world order should be. What is even worse is the Patriarch of the Russian Orthodox Church having endorsed it, claiming it was a right and just cause to push back against the LGBTQ+ community. Russia, a country with a significant history and a culture rich in tradition, cannot, it seems, find its place in the modern world, and has struggled since 1917 to do so, sowing misery, pain, and suffering on its own and many of its neighbors. And now with this “war” that has no legitimacy, purpose, or clear objective? For what?

I’d be very skeptical. Russian air defenses suck. Then claiming those defenses now somehow shut down all incoming drones, resujting in zero damage conveniently allows Russia to claim anything it wants.

Wouldn’t mind seeing some of the ruSSian aircraft crash. And I hope I will see that soon. No sympathy for the orcs.

Yes mother Russia can attack civil infrastructure in Ukraine, but their civil infrastructure should not be harmed.
In any case what evidence do we have that the Ukes did this?
