He got off easy. After ex-JetBlue FA Steven Slater pleaded guilty to two charges of attempted criminal mischief, one a felony and one a misdemeanor, he was released in New York earlier today and will avoid jail if he complies with court orders:
Under the plea deal, Slater will take part in regular mental health counselling and substance abuse treatment for a next year, as well as attend regular appointments with the court. If he completes the program to the satisfaction of Judge Marcia P. Hirsch, the felony charge will be dropped, and he will only have to complete one year’s probation. He is also required to pay JetBlue $10,000 for replacement of the emergency chute.
when is the passenger going to be charged for not following the directions of the fa…federal crime i believe
@KT: I’m not sure that’s a federal crime, but the passenger should be prosecuted if she deliberately struck Slater with her suitcase. Assault and battery are never permitted, even if the FA is a pain in the rear.
