As we enter the Christmas season and my final days in Germany, I thought rather than jetting off to some exotic or dangerous country this weekend I would take a day to check out a new German city and the country’s oldest and most famous Christmas Market. The trip to Nuremberg was on!
With a group of friends and colleagues from the office, we made the three-hour journey from Frankfurt to Nuremberg via regional train. On weekends, Deutsche Bahn offers Schönes Wochenende tickets where up to five ticket can travel on a 39EUR day pass. With ten in the group, that meant the round-trip train ticket broke down to under 8EUR per person.

Oh…how I miss german christmas markets….
@TJ: You’re only two hours away! Nothing similar in London?
I envy you your living in Europe, where you can just get up and be in a cool city in a couple of hours by train! I live in Sao Paulo. Everywhere is far from Sao Paulo. Everywhere…
My wife did a study abroad in Nuremberg and we visited there in 2010 (we also went to Oktoberfest). Did you spin the gold and black rings on the fountain for good luck?
