Park Hyatt Maldives: How To Get There From Malé (MLE)

Matthew Klint Posted onJuly 6, 2019November 14, 2023 7 Comments

I’ll soon publish a detailed review of the Park Hyatt Maldives, but want to use this post to outline how you get there…it isn’t the easiest trip to a resort.

Flying into Malé (MLE) alone is not enough to reach the Park Hyatt Maldives. An additional domestic flight to Kooddoo is required followed by a boat ride to the private island property.

I’ve already outlined what the domestic flights are like…you can expect a reasonably comfortable turboprop with a beverage and some beautiful scenery below.

Once you reach Kooddoo, representatives from the Park Hyatt will be waiting to whisk you and your luggage away to an awaiting speed boat.

Onboard the speedboat, you will be offered a cold towel, beverage, and snacks. The ride to the island is about 30 minutes long and hit some rough bumps along the way.

You don’t have to worry about booking this yourself: the hotel will arrange everything for you via e-mail after completing your reservation. You will only need to provide you arrival and departing flight details and the hotel will take care of the rest. An entourage from the hotel will be waiting at the dock to greet you as you pull in past the overwater bungalows.

The entire service was $525/person for my wife and me, so factor that into the budget when deciding whether to come to this property versus one that is more easily reachable by boat directly from Male.

CONCLUSION

It took time, effort, and expense to reach the Park Hyatt Maldives, but it was sure worthwhile. Stay tuned for my upcoming review.

Sooo $1050 for two people round trip? Is it $525 per person or $525 for your wife and you. Kinda confusing the way you worded it.

Precisely the reason not to stay there or in any other hotel that ‘requires’ air or boat transfers at a rip-off rate.

Same in Bora2; getting to PTT is not nearly all as after that an overpriced air transfer has yet to happen followed by the ‘mandatory’ resort boat at a ridiculous price.

I have no problem paying for a good hotel, paying for a good BC flight. But I have a great problem paying another 1000+ for ancillary and ‘mandatory’ costs. So I won’t.

Hotels like these should have a policy ‘stay x days (paid, no points) and the transfer cost is on us’.

If nothing else, you get to enjoy lots of lovely scenery to and from the resort.

Why do people go to this place? It costs an arm and a leg, takes forever to get there and, once there, exhausted and lagged, there’s bugger all to see or do. I don’t get it.
Maybe for a honeymoon…but even then there are dozens of equally nice resorts that are more affordable, more easily accessible and in closer proximity to better sightseeing/activities.

There are many that actually like just sitting around and doing nothing. It’s called relaxing.
