The Premier Lounge in Colorado Springs (COS) is a nifty little lounge in a very small airport. It’s not worth arriving early for, but I appreciate that the airport even has a lounge.
Premier Lounge Colorado Springs (COS) Review
The lounge is located about halfway down the departure hall on the right side. Let’s begin with who has access, since this is a rather unique lounge when it comes to gaining entrance.
First, Priority Pass, Lounge Club, and LoungeKey membership grants access, which is hardly a surprise. But others have access too, including:
- American Airlines Concierge Key, Executive Platinum, Platinum Pro, and Platinum AAdvantage members
- Delta Air Lines SkyMiles Diamond and Platinum Medallion members
- Frontier Airlines Early Returns Elite members
- Southwest Airlines A-List and A-List Preferred members
- United Airlines Global Services and Premier 1K MileagePlus members
- oneworld Emerald status holders
- Star Alliance Gold status holders
While there is often an attendant on duty, just as often there no one at the desk and you can sign in using the honor system. You can bring in guests for $11 each and anyone can access the lounge for $26 each.
For years, this lounge was called the “Mortgage Solutions Financial” Premier Lounge, but that sponsorship has ended and it appears the airport itself is running the lounge.
The lounge is open daily from 4:30 am until the last flight departs.
Don’t expect much inside. There is seating, power plugs, and a business area with printer, scanner, newspapers, and magazines. No restrooms.
There’s a limited selection of food and drink (which has frankly worsened over the years), though the lounge recently upgraded its coffee from simply a carafe of filter coffee to an espresso machine. Soft drinks and water are also available, though no alcohol.
I like to grab a salty snack in here since there is never any service on the 73-mile United flight between Colorado Springs and Denver.
Bottom line: I appreciate this lounge and I appreciate this entire airport…it’s a very cute little airport that is very easy to travel through.
It reminds me of the hidden/secret lounge at IAD for UA elites a long time ago on the United Express concourse. IIRC, it was similarly sparse (and small).
The eligibility list is hilarious. UA 1Ks and up but *G also gets access? AA Platinum and up but only OWE? Entry-level elites on WN and F9? I wonder how the lounge gets paid with just the checkmark…
Places like that are 90% of the time not being funded by payments from an airlines for access or from Priority Pass. Either they are sponsored or come out of airport marketing budgets. Depending on airport’s financial model, especially if it’s a residual agreement, they have money to spend and it comes out of marketing or tourism funds, private sponsorships/advertising revenue, or other non-airfield related cost centers.
Good to know. Altho they are presumably getting paid by PP since there’s a signature log.
I like spots like this that airports set up either through a sponsorship or directly. Savannah, GA has a room with pretty much the same entry criteria (though it has private restrooms) and has about the same snacks, just they are behind the counter to request from the agent. I was in a lounge of sorts at Akron-Canton this past week that was unattended and no food/drinks, but had plenty of power plugs, a wireless printer, and a variety of seating from a high-top long table to individual desks to an L shaped sofa facing out the window.
These spots aren’t usually well known except to locals, namely business travelers, so on weekends especially tend to be deserted. CAK’s was a nice spot to sit in alone with peace and quiet and wait out a flight delay.
We flew to/from COS a couple years for my sister’s wedding. I didn’t even know this lounge existed. I assumed that small of an airport wouldn’t have one, so I didn’t bother looking at the PP app. Doesn’t look like it would really be worth arriving early for anyway.
If I had to pay extra I wouldn’t pay for it I wouldn’t bother. And really, if I had a limit to how many lounges I could access, I would have to think about it. But if your status or lounge access service is unlimited it is a more comfortable chair and is quieter than the concourse so might as well grab a coffee before the flight.
Yea, I certainly wouldn’t pay to use the lounge either. Even with my Priority Pass membership, doesn’t look worth my time even if it is included.
So , $26. for No restrooms , and packaged snacks ?
Totally not worthwhile considering how great the common areas of the airport are.
When you say First, does that mean passengers traveling in “First” class? Or is a program similar to PP?
Sorry that wasn’t clear, I meant first as in let’s discuss lounge access first.
Can you change the TV channel? The last airport lounge I visited that was blaring Fox News was not very relaxing. (waiting for next political comment below LOL). This reminds me of the Susquehanna Club in Harrisburg MDT which is also airport run, but that lounge is open only to true airline elites and not Priority Pass types.
Clarification – MDT’s lounge is open to those who fly 25,000 miles a year on an airline serving the airport.
I fly through COS quite a bit yearly and I only use this lounge every so often. There is a large modernization project that recently kicked off that is going to include an updated lounge so looking forward to see if this one gets better.
I go back and forth to COS often and appreciate this space. I get in for free but have never found it too crowded and got a snack and coffee or soda and have printed some docs before. It is better than nothing and I appreciate it. Again it is not the Concorde Room but that is not needed at COS.
