Review: Puerta del Sol Lounge Madrid (MAD)

Matthew Klint Posted onOctober 7, 2017November 14, 2023 4 Comments

Despite Madrid being a hub, Air Europa does not have its own lounge. During my layover in MAD I used the Puerta del Sol Lounge instead.

Access is granted via Priority Pass but since I was traveling business class on Alitalia, I did not even have to present my membership card. The lounge is located on the upper level of Terminal 3 (Schengen) and open daily from 5am to 11pm.

Just past the entrance is food. I wouldn’t call the selection limited (a large buffet and refrigerator) but nothing was all that fresh. The bread…stale. Coffee…meh (and the machines were out of milk). Plenty of pastries as well.

a group of wine bottles and wine glasses on a table

a trays of cookies and crackers on a table

a basket of bread on a table

a machine with a bowl of food on top

The only thing I enjoyed was some slice watermelon and apples with plain yogurt.

a tray of fruit and a cup of coffee on a table

The oval-shaped lounge itself included hundreds of seats divided over couches and tables.

A conference room is available:

As are restrooms, showers, and a sleeping room.

Not to be confused with the sleeping room (thought the chairs are the same) is the relaxation room.

Not to be confused with the TV room!

A few computer stations as well, not pictured. Wi-Fi worked fairly well, though required a cumbersome code obtained from the form desk.

CONCLUSION

This is a solid lounge. However, there is not anything special about it. Keep in mind that SkyTeam carriers in Madrid do not have their own lounge network, but most lounges in Terminal 3 seem to accept business class passengers on Air Europa, KLM, Air France, or Alitalia.
