14 Hours Aboard Qatar A350 Business Class…

Matthew Klint Posted onOctober 26, 2017November 14, 2023 7 Comments

After a restful flight from Ho Chi Minh City to Doha and a shower and panini in the Al Mourjan Lounge, it was time to board the 14-hour longhaul to New York City.

Electronics were carefully searched at the gate, the subject of another post, but understand here that if you want to be among the first to board you should be at the gate at least 75 minutes before departure time.

The A350 was nicely lit with mood lighting. A FA welcomed me onboard and directed me to my seat in the last row of the forward business class cabin.

Qatar’s A350 is incredibly open in business class, a beautiful design with a gorgeous circular counter in the middle of the cabin and no overhead bins in the center.

We took off on time and I settled in for the long flight. For this flight, I decided to put Qatar’s a la carte dining to the test.

After takeoff I had my first meal, a chicken salad followed by ravioli. It was the perfect bedtime snack.

I slept for about seven hours then awoke, hungry once again. For my second meal, I ordered soup plus steak. The steak was well-done, but still edible. The soup…delicious as always.

a piece of meat with sauce and vegetables on a white plate

a bowl of ice cream and fruit

I tried to sleep some more, but could not. Unfortunately, the internet was also basically nonfunctional (as it is on all OnAir flights). So I had to relax. Good thing the HD tail camera was available!

Prior to landing, I enjoyed my third meal: Greek yogurt followed by scrambled eggs with mushrooms on sourdough bread.

The on-demand dining service was flawless during the flight and I enjoyed great service from Aida and Faiz. Note, however, that the staff ran out of food by the time we neared New York. Good thing I had already eaten three meals…

CONCLUSION

You know a flight is good when 14 hours flies by and you wish the flight was even longer. Qatar is a great airline and the A350 is one of my favorite aircraft. Stay tuned for the full report.

I thought you were booked to fly Qsuites, per your “HOW I NEARLY RUINED MY QATAR QSUITE TRIP” post. Is that review coming, or is this it?

QSuite is coming and would have been ruined if I did not make it to SGN. I chose the A350 on the way out and QSuite on the way back because we need to wait several more weeks before the QSuite-configured 777-300ER begins to operate.

Mr. Matthew. Did you know that qacc made those food?! Most of the workers on qacc are not qualified food handlers. They dont even take a shower before they work, indians or nepal are not taking shower for weeks. I know that you know well how they smell. I believe you are making this stupid messages because qatar airways now are struggling to have a passengers. And you are working for that company. How much did the company payed you for this?!

Qatar paid me nothing for this post and I don’t appreciate your gross generalizations about people based upon their national origin.

Jeeze. You obvisouly have no idea as to how airline catering works, and you betray your hideous racism. Indians actually bathe twice a day at least. Do all Indians use deodorant. No they dont. But half baked information used to promote racism is beyond the pale.
