Etihad opened a new lounge in Los Angeles earlier this week and I was able to get a sneak the morning after it opened.
Located in the Tom Bradley International Terminal, the lounge is small but luxurious as far as lounges go and even one-ups the nearby Emirates lounge with an a la carte menu in addition to a buffet and a full service bar instead of self-serve (anyone care guess how long until Emirates matches?).
Access is for business and first class passengers on Etihad and on Etihad partner airlines (Alitalia and Air Berlin) as well as for Etihad Rewards elite members. The lounge open daily from 1:30 PM until 4:55 PM.
Inside are several sitting areas—
A dining area with buffet—
And the bar in the center of the lounge—
Here is the full lounge menu, listing both a la carte and buffet items as well as beverage selections—
There is also a prayer room and bathrooms featuring one shower in each restroom—
Etihad continues the Gulf carrier trend of influencing the entire premium passenger experience with chauffeur service from home to the airport, check-in and lounge at the airport, onboard, and chauffeur service upon destination. The new lounge in LAX looks great and offers another compelling reason to check out Etihad for your future travels.
Thanks for the review! What a nice lounge.
It seems like a waste to have a lounge open less than 4 hours per day, especially when you consider the cost to rent the space, as well as the cost of stocking a buffett, offering a full a la carte service, and staffing.
I realize that the lounge is there to serve ETD 170, and that the marginal benefit to AZ and AB pax is probably not a consideration in determining opening hours. Maybe this is an opportunity to contract with another airline to offer access?
Looks like a fine lounge, but I concur with Andrew’s comment – the limited hours seem like a waste of resources. You’d think Etihad could earn some decent revenue to contracting it out to others outside of EY 170’s departure time.
