A very strange promotional video encouraging emigration to Russia leaves me wondering whether this is serious or parody.
Russia Entices You To Emigrate With “Beautiful Women, Cheap Gas, And No Cancel Culture”
The Russian Embassy in Spain posted the following video to its official YouTube account, which is in English with English subtitles:

The following reasons are given for why you should move to Russia:
- delicious cuisine
- beautiful women
- cheap gas
- rich history
- world-famous literature
- unique artchicecture
- fertile soil
- cheap electricity and water
- ballet
- cheap taxi and delivery
- traditional values
- Christianity
- no cancel culture
- hospitality
- vodka
- economy that can withstand thousands of sanctions
The video ends with, “Time to move to Russia. Don’t delay…winter is coming,” representing a veiled threat to energy supply lines to Europe which are in danger of being cut off.
Interestingly, despite the ongoing war in Ukraine, Russia continues to offer tourist visits to Americans and others and is grappling with a birth rate of 1.5o per woman, which is under the replacement rate.
The accent of this video, particularly the way in which “traditional” is said, makes me thing this is either a spoof done by Americans or perhaps a genuine video by an alt right thinker who is rooting for Russia in the “special military operation” in Ukraine.
Either way, what a strange video.
CONCLUSION
One of the great things about travel is being visit other countries without living there. I quite enjoyed my trip to Russia and would like to return…though not now. I do hope no one will take the video at face value. While Russia may welcome you with open arms, just note the grass is not always greener on the other side.
At least they know they are only two genders.

It’s probably cheaper in Russia if you live a primitive life. Live like an expatriate working for an international corporation and Russia is expensive.
As far as women, lots of Russian women have genital herpes. That’s a fact of life, I believe, but almost certainly not in the video.
One emigrates from, immigrates to.
The point is Russia is encouraging people to emigrate, not just immigrate. It is telling you to leave your own country, which is emigration.
Then it should make it clear that one should emigrate from where one lives to a 21st century tsarist regime. How’s that working out for them in Ukraine?
Maybe migrate? Covers both.
This isn’t produced by the Russian Government. It just isn’t. “Cheap Gas” as a phrase, and an idea, is an Americanism. Cancel Culture isn’t a real issue, it’s a talking point on American Media. Russia isn’t a Christian country. It’s a diverse multi-ethnic, multi-religious country with a secular government, and the government uses that to its advantage. The Chechens terrorizing civilians in Ukraine right now are certainly not Christian, nor are many of the recruits coming in from Russia’s non-European provinces very soon.
