Rapper Storms Gate At Newark Airport With Metal Stanchion In Nasty Brawl

Janae Nierah Wherry, known more widely as Sexyy Red, is a popular American rapper. But the rapper got into some trouble at Newark Airport that ended with her arrest after she joined a brawl, entering the fight brandishing a metal stanchion.

In this case, you should start by watching the video:

This was taken at gate C82, a United Airlines gate, in Newark Terminal C.

So who is this?

I’m too old I guess to know these kids, but she goes by “GHETTO FABULOUS HOOCHIEX-RATEDYoFav RAPPA/TRAPPA STLOUIS FINEST H45d Hottest Princes$$”

Nice…

Well, I’m not a fan of her music, but she’s also a little funny:

And to her credit, she (at least briefly) offered to replace someone’s phone (though then prematurely deleted the Instagram story):

That phone comment offers a clue as to what happened: apparently people were taking pictures of her (as is common when you’re famous…) and her security guards went after them…then she joined in too.

I smell green, not red…in the form of a lawsuit!

I love how the gate agent and wheelchair handler simply back into the jetbridge like a turtle going back into its shell, and then shut the door.

What else are you going to do?

One brave gate agent pops out to call security…who did come and arrested several members of the entourage, including Red.

Is there a lesson here? Yes, public figures should expect to be photographed in public places. You have no expectation of privacy.

Thankfully, this brawl did not happen while on an airplane or in the air.

Your blog is turning into the TMZ of aviation. Why cover such trashy, lowbrow content? You’re capable of doing much more meaningful analyses and insightsful news.

I do both. Trash like this, which the people click on, helps to underwite the stories/reviews I really like to cover that are arguably not worth my time (in terms of financial return), but I write as a labor of love. It’s the business model. As I’ve explained, I’d rather write these stories than aggressively pump credit cards and actually do enjoy writing/reading about them.

It’s a very big turn off for many readers. It’s why I had to stop reading Gary’s View from the wing because it was filled to the brim with trashy content like this and peddling credit cards with almost nothing of substance.

Your actual reviews and newsworthy information are what gets you engagement.

Actually, it’s not. Again, I see the analytics and I see what drives traffic and revenue.

Can you help me understand something? Let’s say on any one day I have a flight review, a news story, some industry analysis, and a total clickbait story about a trashy passenger. Why not just skip the last article? Isn’t it obvious based on the way I word the headline? Why complain about a story that doesn’t suit you…you don’t read every story in a newspaper, right?

It really does devalue the primary focus of this blog to focus on such bad behavior when there are so many more important travel related stories to be told. You seem to be far too dependent to push out such content to the detriment of more serious and relevant content. While such prurient stories may interest some of your readers and it’s true that analytics and ads push your revenue model, we all have choices to make as the airlines say. You do, too. Write a trashy novel while I’ll get my travel news somewhere else.

One additional comment: you have excellent content for the most part including some I find good reading about things that are more sensational that do not focus on bad behavior, fighting on airplanes, et al. That’s the stuff that is really the turn off for me. One should be able to get those attention grabbing sensational headlines (talk about troves of potential stories to cover) that boost your revenue model without focusing on fighting which does little more than make us snicker at in a demeaning way — or worse — loathe our fellow humans.
