Tomorrow, Singapore Airlines will formally unveil its re-designed A380-800, complete with a total cabin refresh in all four classes of services.
While I’m sure the new business, premium economy, and economy class seats will be industry-leading, all eyes are on the redesigned first class suite.
Singapore is often ahead of its time and expectations are dangerously high for this new suite. But the suspense is over…sort of. Leaked pictures courtesy of SQTalk reveal spacious new private compartments, including suites that convert into larger suites with a semi-shared bed.
Count me as impressed. The color scheme in the mock up is reminiscent of a hospital room, but I love all the space. Furthermore, both the bed and the chair look very comfortable.
First Class will be moved from the lower deck to the upper deck of the A380. While Suites Class currently seats 12 passengers, the new Suites Class will have only six seats.
Here’s a look at a leaked seat map of the new aircraft:
While it looks like the right side of the cabin has beds and the left side does not, the more likely explanation is that the beds fold up. You can also bet that the privacy divider is raisable for passengers who are not traveling together and don’t want to share a bed with their neighbor.
CONCLUSION
After the new seat is unveiled tomorrow, I will post more details and clearer photos. I will also share how you can book a seat on the new Suites Class. Hint: it is not cheap.
H/T: One Mile at a Time
The hospital-like hue is only because of the yellow wall background that the mockup seems to be placed in. The only picture of what the suite will actually look like on a plane is the one of the single bed – that one seems slightly sterile, an easy fix with mood lighting.
