Singapore Airlines: Cheap Last-Minute New York – Frankfurt Tickets

Matthew Klint Posted onDecember 11, 2017December 11, 2017 2 Comments

Singapore Airlines New York Frankfurt Price

After New York last week, John and I had to fly to Frankfurt to meet with a shipping transport company.

We had planned to use miles, but Thursday turned out to be a particularly busy travel day so nothing opened in business or first. Nothing without triple connections and losing the entirety of Friday.

But one-way tickets to Europe, except on ultra-low-cost-carriers, tend to be cost prohibitive. Even budget airlines tend to be very pricey for last-minute purchases.

Thus, we were looking at using miles for economy class…hardly a great option, but better than a costly one-way ticket.

Upon further investigation, however, one particular Fifth Freedom proved an even better deal than using miles.

Singapore Airlines runs a Fifth Freedom route between New York (JFK) and Frankfurt (FRA). While $404 one-way is a not a particularly good price when purchased in advance, it represents an incredible price for a walk-up ticket.

Tomorrow I’ll detail the service onboard (one of the best economy class flight I’ve ever had), but if you’re not familiar with this route and ever find yourself in need of a last-minute ticket to Germany, look to Singapore Airlines. Using $400 is a far better deal than burning 30,000 miles plus taxes/fees.

FYI, LOT and SAS also tend to have decent (as in not full fare) one way ticket prices to Europe – and they allow connection so potentially worth it if you’d otherwise have to purchase and expensive add on.
