Oneworld Lounge Hopping In Singapore: A Foodie’s Delight

Matthew Klint Posted onJuly 3, 2023November 13, 2023 20 Comments

Singapore Changi International Airport is not only home to a number of superb Singapore Airlines lounges, but also five different oneworld lounges, all worth visiting (though some more than others). I enjoyed many delicious meals during my 18-hour layover in SIN.

Dining In Singapore Oneworld Lounges: Many Delicious Options

Let me start by saying that I am not a foodie in the traditional sense of the word. Sure, I can appreciate quality meat or wine or coffee, but I’m not one of those travelers who plan journeys around meals (unless it is to the Na Oh L-1011 restaurant in Bangkok). But I do pack it away…and when I have the prospect of an entire day at an airport filled with superb lounges, then I take advtange of it.

I already detailed the superb late-night dinner I had at the Qatar Airways Premium Lounge in SIN. First, I had buffalo mozzarella drizzled in balsamic vinegar and topped with strawberries.

Then, lamb cutlets.

And finally, berries.

There was a buffet too.

By the time I left it was 1:00 am and I was not particularly in the mood to go into town, so I checked into the Plaza Premium Lounge across the hall and went to sleep.

Next morning, I made the rather arduous journey to Terminal 4 in order to use the Cathay Pacific Lounge. I had the lounge all to myself and enjoyed some seriously delicious Laksa.

That lounge also had a respectable buffet.

I then met up with a friend and we spent a few hours out and about, which I will detail in my full trip report.

Back at the airport, I headed to the Qantas First Lounge, where I enjoyed a lovely late lunch, starting with olives.

Then a chicken breast with sweet potatoes and broccolini along with a side salad.

That was followed by Barramundi wtih polenta, basil, and zucchini sauce…simply sublime.

a bowl of french fries and ketchup on a plate

Then dessert, including a bowl of berries, brownie with ice cream, and a flat white.

a cup of coffee with a heart in the foam

a brownie with a scoop of ice cream on top

a bowl of fruit on a plate

It is lounge visits like this that remind me the oneworld Emerald status is the most valuable status in the world.

But my day was not over yet. Next, it was off to the British Airways Lounge. I’ll be honest, I did not eat here…and this looked to be the least impressive of all the oneworld lounges in SIN. There, a buffet awaited…but I was stuffed.

My final stop was at the Qantas Business Lounge, which is not as lush as the first class lounge, but still a very nice lounge with a buffet, bar, barista, and live-cooking station (with laksa).

I also did not eat here.

CONCLUSION

If you hold oneworld elite status (particularly emerald, which allows access to the Qantas First Lounge), you can enjoy a feast at Singapore Changi Airport. I enjoyed sampling the different lounges and look forward to returning.

I’m confused. You slept at the airport and then went into the city with a friend?

I did. Arrived before midnight, had dinner in Qatar Lounge, slept in Plaza Premium, went to Cathay Pacific lounge, went into Singapore for a few hours, then back again for the other lounges.

Smart way to get you through your 18 hour wait. Now I want a very long layover at SIN.

Hopefully you enjoyed some good food at a hawkers market while in the city as well.

Looks like the Qatar lounge food was the star – the others are decent for a lounge but otherwise pedestrian

If I were in Singapore for 18 hours I wouldn’t spend it hopping from lounge to lounge.

I’ve been many times—it is a remarkable city. But this was a “work” trip. Agree that it is hard to pass up all the great things Singapore has to offer.

Yeah, but then you’re not the one writing the airline/airport review (that you came here to read), are you? People leave some of the strangest comments. And generally, what’s the deal with a few typos? Is it a jealousy thing about not having these amazing trips yourselves?

I greatly respect Peter and his point is not missed – it is a shame, on the one hand, to lounge hop in such an excellent city state.

But I will detail what I did outside SIN Airpot – which was pretty cool.

Matthew, with all due respect, sorry to be the bearer of bad news, depending on what the meaning of the word ‘is’ is, despite your protest “I am not a foodie in the traditional sense of the word”, YOU ARE A FOODIE. Maybe not as extreme as those who plan trips based on meals and restaurants and maybe not as much as the coffee snob (no disrespect again) you are, but absolutely most definitely a foodie nonetheless. A real non-foodie has never even heard of 50% of the meal courses you described and certainly wouldn’t eat 80% of them .

(Before someone else points it out in a much more obnoxious way: “what I did outside SIN Airpot [sic]”.)
