Where To Smoke At Copenhagen Airport (CPH)

Matthew Klint Posted onDecember 29, 2022November 13, 2023 10 Comments

I am not a smoker, but provide airport smoking guides in an effort to help smokers and reduce second-hand smoke. My views on smoking at airports remain unchanged. Copenhagen Kastrup International Airport (DOH) offers convenient airside smoking lounges post-security, including both indoor and outdoor facilities.

Smoking At Copenhagen Airport (CPH)

The airport website does not make clear where smoking areas are located. I came across two smoking areas during my transit, one indoor cubicle (that I have passed for decades) and one more recently-created outdoor one.

The indoor area was a cubicle on an upstairs landing outside of passport control between terminals 2 and 3. Climb the stairs and turn right. You will find the smoking area down the hall on your right.

a large empty airport with a clock and signs

a large building with a tree in it

a glass booth in a building

a sign in a glass room

a sign on a glass wall

a silver bowl on a pedestal

a glass enclosure in a building

I suspect these small cubicles are horrible for inhaling secondhand smoke, but seem clean and efficient and provide a way for smokers to have a few puffs without having to go outside (and winters can be very harsh).

The second smoking area I came across was in the A Gate area of Terminal 2 (Schengen area). Clearly-marked signs will direct you to this outdoor smoking area. It is covered in case of inclement weather.

I did not walk outside to take pictures because it was quite crowded and I wanted to respect the privacy of those smokers who were out there.

CONCLUSION

Copenhagen Airport is one of the more smoker-friendly airports in Scandinavia. Just keep an eye out for signs directing you to smoking areas and note that there are both indoor and outdoor facilities available.

I wasn’t under the impression anybody in Denmark still smoked.

I didn’t expect it either – then again walked into a small bar in Copenhagen last October to be greeted by smoke!

@Matthew – T2 Aspire Lounge has a smoking room in it as well. A quick glance at the Priority Pass app shows the T2 Carlsberg Lounge is non-smoking

@Jerry – it’s only people transiting through CPH, not citizens of Denmark! :-0)

I thought this was another story on Petey the Trans Secretary. Sure he always finds a place to “smoke” things. Like former Republican Senator Larry Craig, Airport men’s rooms stalls work for him.

Come on Dave! I just don’t understand the fixation with Pete’s sexual preferences. I didn’t him making his rounds on TV proclaiming his love for men. Certainly from an intersectional perpsective he checks off additional boxes, but the dude is smart. Look at his CV and just listen to him talk. Orientation becomes a bigger issue in culture because it is often magnified not just by those who make it their sole identity but by those adverse to change who fixate on it to a degree that there is an unhealthy focus on it.

Not a smoker. But a suggestion. Would you be able to indicate when you went through an airport/flew/stayed in a hotel? I ask because what is reviewed six months ago may be significantly different than today. I just watched two videos for a premium cabin, produced about six months apart. Clearly the product drastically improved in that time period. I think this is especially important post-COVID.

All my flight reviews have dates. For SEO reasons, I do not put dates on hotel reviews.
