Sneak Peek at JetBlue’s A321 Business Class + Mini-Suites

Matthew Klint Posted onAugust 5, 2013December 9, 2016 2 Comments

JetBlue has released the first images of its new Airbus A321 interiors, including a look at its 16-seat business class cabin that will contain four mini-suites with sliding doors providing complete privacy.

The new aircraft and addition of business class (and apparently a business class within a business class) will be first introduced on flights between New York and Los Angeles/San Francisco next year.

The cabin proposed for the Jet Blue Airlines A321 (U.S. operator) is a two class layout, with 16 business class seats and 143 economy class seats (159 passengers),” says Airbus…

“The Business Class includes 4 single seats that are ‘mini-suites’ types. These mini-suites consist in a seat with surrounding furniture’s, intending to provide privacy to the occupants. Typically, the complete closure of the single mini-suites is possible by means of a sliding element, moving parallel to the aircraft longitudinal axis.”

Per the pictures and video below, the suites will be staggered in the business class cabin, which creates a unique but very attractive cabin design. With competitive pricing, I expect JetBlue will do well in competition with United, American, and Delta, all who have pledged lie-flats seats on this premium route.

Who will the loser be? Virgin America, who is dying the death of a thousand cuts as the competition fiercely responds to every new route and every new sale.

The JetBlue TrueBlue loyalty program is an American Express transfer partner and I look forward to trying this new product, which (at least based on the images above) sets the standard for a domestic premium seat.

I agree with Needlemen; they will fail. No one can do what Virgin America does, and does well. They always have been and always will be a wanna be big guy. Will never amount to anything more than a Southwest Airlines with TV’s.
