A Southwest Airlines Inflight Marriage

Matthew Klint Posted onApril 1, 2021November 14, 2023 4 Comments

What could be more fitting for a Southwest Airlines pilot than to marry his spouse in the sky?

Inflight Marriage on Southwest Airlines

First Officer York Zentner met his future wife, Sabrina Solesbee, at a Southwest Airlines ticket counter in Las Vegas. They had met online, but met at the airport for their first in-person date.

As they dated, Sabrina would often join York on his trips if she could get the day off, allowing them to explore the county as they got to know each other better. It was love at first sight and York popped the question to Sabrina onboard a private flight the pair took over Utah.

Sabrina said yes! When it came time to plan the wedding, both agreed the most logical place to hold it would be at 40,000 feet above the ground onboard a Southwest Airlines flight.

Thus, with 15 friends and family onboard, York and Sabrina were married onboard a Southwest Airlines flight from Las Vegas to Salt Lake City. Although York is based in Las Vegas, the couple plan to live in Utah and because the plane was over Utah during the ceremony (officiated by another Southwest Airlines pilot and friend of York’s) the two signed their marriage certificate in Utah.

Here are some pictures and video from the onboard wedding:

I presume the pilot York didn’t see agent Sabrina’s wedding dress during boarding or before. That would be bad luck, which on an airplane flying is potentially catastrophic. :p

Hope the couple has a happy life together ❤

This is a lovely story and I wish the bride and groom the happiest days ahead.

On another note, only one other comment? Had the title been, “A SOUTHWEST AIRLINES INFLIGHT MARRIAGE ENDS WITH BRAWL ON AIRCRAFT,” the comments would be blowing up. What a strange world we live in.

More good women have been lost to marriage than to war, famine, disease and disaster.

So very amusing that they had to walk the full mile to the Southwest gates at the new SLC.
