Springtime In Los Angeles

Matthew Klint Posted onApril 5, 2025 7 Comments

A springtime walk through the public garden near our home in Los Angeles helped to put a lot of things in perspective.

There’s so much going on in the world around us and sometimes it all becomes overwhelming. Earlier, I closed my computer and we headed over to Descanso Gardens, a beautiful public garden just a few minutes from our home. It is springtime in LA and the tulips are in full bloom.

We enjoyed a lovely couple of hours there wandering through the gardens and even doing a little hiking.

As I looked at the tulips, I was reminded that time is flying. Another year. Another season of Lent. My kids are growing. I’m getting old. This life will soon be over…it’s like a vapor.

I’ll reflect on this a bit more in my Easter post in a couple of weeks, but a reminder of that perspective was so helpful today.

My hope is not in the power or principalities of this world, but in the One who holds the whole world in His hands.

Sometimes when all around seems so grim, I need to be reminded of that.

It’s a beautiful time of year here in Southern California.

Now it’s time for Sabbath rest. See you on Monday.

Refreshing to see your family enjoying nature. Most of the day I observe people glued to electronic devices and offering opinions on subjects they’ve never opened a book to research.

Nice. Watch out for the Canadian geese, they’re ornery critters. Awfully pretty park.

I’d hardly say you’re getting old although almost everybody feels old or tired at some point. To paraphrase Monty Python And The Holy Grail you’re not dead yet. Enjoy your youth. Actual old age comes quickly enough.

Canada geese, not Canadian. Everyone wants to quibble about this. The geese refuse to carry a passport. ; · )

If ICE finds out about the lack of passports then their goose is cooked.

Dude you aren’t old and saying anything else is silly talk.

    Beautiful pictures by the way!

You can survive whatever it is. The loss of a loved one , a home , financial loss , etc. You shall prevail. As a born again Christian I look forward to this Easter and also my family who I have grown distant from who have opened their home to me on Passover Seder. And my first United flights post departure from American after decades. Amen.

A day very much worth having. I’m glad you were able to escape the noise and enjoy the time with your family. We’d all do well to do more of that. Beautiful pictures and prose. Thanks for sharing.
