Star Alliance has opened a new lounge in Rome Fiumicino (FCO), creating a unified lounge for the 17 Star Alliance members that serve The Eternal City.
Well, sort of unified. The lounge is located on the upper level of Boarding Zone D in Terminal 3. That’s in the Schengen Zone, making it very easy to access for European destinations. You can still access is it if you are flying longhaul, but it may take some extra security screening.
The new lounge is chicly designed and will feature a la carte (including pizza!) and buffet dining:
All Star Alliance branded lounges are designed to provide a unique local experience. In Rome, Italian designer furniture gives an elegant, modern and fashionable look, along with functional spaces to work, relax or socialise in. This goes hand in hand with an exciting Italian inspired culinary experience, ranging from a staffed bar and barista coffee station, to made to order signature dishes.
In total 17 Star Alliance member carriers serve Rome, providing non-stop service to 25 destinations in 20 countries. The lounge is open daily from 5:15am to 9:15pm and seats 130 guests.
Here are some picture of the new lounge:
This isn’t the only Star Alliance lounge project. Other Star Alliance branded lounges are in:
- Buenos Aires (EZE)
- Los Angeles (LAX)
- Nagoya (NGO)
- Paris (CDG)
- Rio de Janeiro (GIG)
- São Paulo (GRU)

You say you “like the quote on the wall…”, yet post a picture which hides some of it. Excellent work.
It’s a very well known quote uttered by the man we named our son after.
Excuse me for not being as enlightened as you….
Frank, I did not mean to be snarky in my response.
Matthew, do US bound passengers on UA, AA and DL still use that miserable T5, if so this would be of no use to the UA passenger.
They do still use that horrid terminal. You can still access the new lounge, but would have to go through security once again when changing terminals.
You weren’t snarky at all. Pay Frank no mind. He clearly has the use of the internet and, should he desire to see the full quote, could have looked it up himself. And given his apparent love of anonymous internet whinging, I’m sure you are much more enlightened.
And Augustus (or Auggie) is a great name. Glad to see someone breathing some fresh life into it.
While the new lounge in FCO has a nice feel to it and good fare, the location seems a bit out of the way. We are on a flight to Munich leaving out of A79, completely opposite side of the airport. Too bad they couldn’t have put the lounge in a more centralized location.
