Stuck in Lisbon: What it Feels Like to Have No Status

Matthew Klint Posted onDecember 31, 2009 Leave a Comment

I was scheduled to take a bus from Lisbon to Algericas, Spain today and showed up at the bus station at 0830 for my 0900 departure. As I waited in line to pick up my ticket, I noticed that Seville (point of transfer) was not listed on the departure screen. I got to the front of the line and the agent nonchalantly informed me that the bus had been cancelled this morning and there was not another bus till tomorrow.

No compensation, no hotel or meal voucher, no skykits–just an updated ticket. Now I get to spend New Year’s day on a bus and one less day in Morocco. Que lástima.
