The Best Pasta in Frankfurt, Courtesy of Lufthansa

Matthew Klint Posted onApril 19, 2011November 14, 2023 3 Comments

I worked late Friday and had to hustle to catch my 2030 flight to Bucharest–not because I feared I would miss it, but because I wanted dinner in Lufthansa’s Senator Lounge before the flight. Not a bad spread:

a plate of pasta and a glass of wine

a white cup with yellow liquid in it

a plate of food with a slice of bread

Without a doubt, the highlight of the meal was the freshly-prepared plate of pasta (cooked in front of me) topped with fresh basil and drizzled with grated Romano cheese. Admittedly, I was hungry, but this little bowl of pasta really made my day. Frankfurt has a lot of great restaurants, including very nice Italian ones, but I must say that Lufthansa topped them all.

Not bad for a Star Alliance Gold lounge!

Looks like a dish that you would expect to find in a business or first class lounge. Presentation looks very nice.

@FriendlySkies: And it really was tasty. Nicely done LH!

Normally I think lounges are completely overrated and often not even worth bothering with (particularly in the U.S. where RCCs, for instance, can be nastier than the gates), but I’ve had a similar experience recently where I had a very nice dinner at the ZRH *A lounge. Very good pasta!
