We All Need A Laugh…How About Some Travel Humor?

It has been a tough week filled with one bad news story after another. With so many serious issues to contend with, I hope this posts serves as welcome diversion, even if only for a few minutes.

Whenever I need a laugh, one of my favorite sources (even after watching it hundreds of times) is travel agent Carol Beer, a character on Season 3 of BBC’s Little Britain played by David Walliams.

Her customer service is so bad, her tone so indifferent and apathetic, you simply cannot help but to laugh.

So enjoy the videos below and remember that one of the great gifts of humanity is a deep laugh.

In the prior season, she played a hospital receptionist:

And one other bonus clip. Another BBC miniseries I just loved was called “Come Fly With Me”. It aired from 2010 to 2011 and serves as an air travel mockumentary…it’s well worth your time. My favorite clip in the whole series is the clip below. Penny is a flight attendant for “Great British Air”. In this bit, she talks about the service onboard for her first class passengers. Hilarious.

There are other travel clips I could share…Airplane! comes to mind. But I’ll leave it here.

Feel free to share your favorite travel-related clips below. We could all use a laugh.

Now I finally know who’s behind all of the answers I keep getting from Hilton’s refund department! LOL!

Have you seen Come Fly with Me? Also from the BBC created by David Walliams and Matt Lucas. Similar humour but based completely around aviation. Well worth a look 🙂

Little Britain and Come Fly with Me are both on Amazon Prime, if anyone wants to check out the whole series. Come Fly with Me is strangely comforting as a frequent flier!

Come Fly With Me and Little Britain are amazing shows. British comedy shows during this period (2000s-early 2010s) had me glued and would cheer me up after work- whether it was processing data as a undergrad getting paid to help profs in college or a 13-15 hour work day as a junior banker (basically when I was at the bottom of the totem pole). The shows also helped me close some deals with some clients in the the UK and in the Middle East as they were also huge fans.

I’m amazed no-one has yet mentioned the classic “I am a Diamond Member”.

Amazed no-one has posted the classic “I am a Diamond Member” yet (or perhaps they have; I posted it and my post does not appear. On the theory it might be an anti-spam measure triggering on the YouTube link, just search the key phrase.)

Please try Absolutely Fabulous the movie. Patsy ( Johanna Lumley) and Edwina (Jenifer Saunders) try a budget airline. Rebel Wilson is the radical flight attendant that uses a stun gun to keep them in line.

My son and I absolutely loved Come Fly With Me and to this day, still quote lines from the show when traveling together.

Anyone with access to the Australian show Optics should watch episode 3. The parody of QF specifically (and the industry in general) is wonderful.

If you want to see a great British parody of the Royal Family, may I suggest “The Windsors” on Netflix.
The actors who play Charles & Camilla are brilliant!!
My favorite episode (season 2, Episode 3) is the one where Charles’ twin brother had been in prisoned in a castle loft for 70+ years. In the same episode, Prince Harry gets into a pistol duel and is saved when the bullet is deflected by a metal drinking flask in his shirt pocket.

Tough week- whys that? Matt you’re usually so quick to point fingers unambiguously. Couldn’t possibly be your guy could it?
