With global geopolitical tensions simmering and the Trump administration making extraordinary threats about military operations abroad, an often unseen but critical piece of U.S. national security infrastructure has quietly moved into position. The U.S. Air Force’s E-4B “Nightwatch,” commonly known as the Doomsday Plane, recently flew to the Washington, DC area, raising questions as to what may be next.

The Boeing E-4B Nightwatch is one of the most specialized and hardened aircraft in the U.S. military inventory. As much as I understand that clicks are the lifeblood of a website, this is almost 100% just a routine mission for the plane and crew to go sit alert at somewhere not at Offutt. You can easily track them and know they do this from time to time across numerous Air Force bases in the US.
But it’s not routine to invade a country while maintaining its dictatorship, threaten allied countries (Denmark), and ignore all international laws.
It’s practically a license for Father Russia and China to do whatever they want with Ukraine and Taiwan…

The SecDef tends to use the Doomsday plane as his mode of transportation, especially internationally, and that has been true for quite some time (and predates the current occupant). It was flying over Charlottesville last Friday evening. We routinely have military planes performing routine flights along with touch and go landings at CHO but this was something quite different.

Whenever any POTUS travels abroad, an E-4B is never far away.
Long before this plane is brought into use for its intended purpose, I would hope that the US military have neutralised the threat to world peace and taken Criminal Trump and his side kicks into custody where they will remain for the rest of their days unless of course they are shot while escaping which could easily happen.
In the 1970’s, I had a tour of the aircraft as it waited on the deck in Mildenhall, UK, while the President Ford was in Helsinki. The Presidential living space was in the nose, which we were not shown. Our crewmember host told us that President Nixon had wanted to travel on a training flight and it was suggested that Moscow be told so there would be no reason for panic or misunderstanding. The answer was that Moscow would go on full alert if President Nixon flew on the aircraft. Nixon did not get his ride. I wonder if SECDEF got his ride.

And of course the stupidest explanation is the correct one in this case. The plane left Washington DC and flew to LA with Pete Hegseth and Laura Loomer. Hegseth did a “workout with the troops” and Loomer did, well, whatever it is she does as an accredited Pentagon journalist. Full on insanity.
