I’m live-blogging my SAS EuroBonus SkyTeam Million Mile challenge this week. Click here for background and route information.
After our transit delay at Tunis Airport, we only had about 15 minutes before boarding our Saudia flight to Jeddah, but that was more than enough time for a great cup of coffee in the airport’s only lounge run by Tunisair.
I reviewed the Tunisair Espace Privilege Lounge in 2022 and was pleased to see it had improved again, with new furniture giving more privacy and improved wi-fi.
Last time I did not even bother to order a coffee because I only saw the Nespresso machines at the bar. Those are still there, but since I only had a small cup of coffee in the Air France Lounge in Paris a few hours earlier, I ordered one, thinking I could tolerate it for the caffeine hit.
But that machine wasn’t used…instead another machine in the back was used that must have been more manual because a very delicious coffee came out:
So good I had another, which was even better than the first and served in a cuter cup:
I very much appreciated the coffee.
While I did not eat anything, the lounge had a respectable spread of food and drinks.
The improved lounge makes me want to fly Tunisair again…

Be careful what you wish for: Too bad that Air Europe doesn’t fly to Tunis.
Any updates here if Air Europe Express counts as part of the challenge?
Sounds like someone finally got some good coffee in the French speaking world. Honestly, barista made coffee is such a great lounge amenity.
Agreed.
@Matthew: while I agree 100% with you that nothing beats freshly grounded coffee and a manual espresso machine, I have to tell you that you can also get some great coffee from a Nespresso machine. I personally have a Breville machine that uses Nespresso type of capsules but I never but coffee from Nespresso. I have found a great coffee company in Naples Italy that sells their fantastic ground coffee into capsules that you can use in the machine. I only buy from them and they deliver to my home directly from Italy. With a decent machine and great coffee in a capsule, you can still have a great espresso. My machine also froths milk so I am able to get a pretty decent latte or capuccino. Of course, nothing replaces a La Marzocco but that’s a different story.
What’s the name of the company? I love Nespresso capsules.
@Lukas: Here is the link: https://www.caffebarbera.com/en/ They are one of the oldest family owned coffee business in Italy. They are not well known on the US but have opened several coffee shops in the Middle East. I met the owner a few years ago and I loved their story and of course their coffee. As you probably know, Italy does not produce any coffee but Italians have mastered the roasting process of coffee and know how to source great coffee from around the world and blend it. And of course they have the best coffee machines. I just saw they are running a Black Friday deal so you can get a better price. Note that the shipping cost to the US is not cheap but their coffee is much cheaper than Nespresso so at the end it makes sense. Last but not least, each capsule is individually packaged in a sealed packet with air which preserves the freshness and flavor much longer than regular capsules.
Thank you so much! I’m moving back to the Czech Republic next year, so shipping won’t be as expensive for me 🙂
cofefe? Just missing a V and you’re reading straight from the Trump dictionary!
I agree. All praise HIM!
