United Airlines Adds Crafthouse Cocktails To Onboard Drink Menu

United Airlines Crafthouse Cocktails

United Airlines is upgrading its onboard selection of adult beverages with new cocktail options set to roll out on all routes starting next month including mai tais, espresso martinis, and a new cocktail exclusively for United called the moonlighter.

United Airlines Partners With Crafthouse Cocktails To Bring New Drinks To Onboard Menu

In a memo to employees shared with Live And Let’s Fly, United Airlines has announced a partnership with Crafthouse Cocktails, a craft bottled cocktail company founded by Chicago bar owner and restauranteur Matt Lindner and Global Bartending Champion Charles Joly in 2013.

On Hawaiian routes, United is (finally) bringing back mai tais and also offering a pineapple daiquiri:

“We’ll be launching two Hawaiian-inspired canned ready-to-drink cocktails: a refreshing pineapple daiquiri and a vibrant mai tai, both by Crafthouse Cocktails and available for purchase in economy for $12 or 1,420 miles, and complimentary in the premium cabin and United Premium Plus.”

On other routes, espresso martinis and a new cocktail called the “moonlighter” will be available:

“Our partnership with Crafthouse Cocktails continues beyond our Hawaii routes. Beginning February 1, two canned ready-to-drink cocktails will be offered on domestic routes in all cabins: a delicious espresso martini and the moonlighter, a unique lavender and chamomile vodka spritz, canned exclusively for United. Both are also available for purchase for $12 or 1,420 miles in economy and complimentary in the premium cabin and United Premium Plus.”

I’m working to eliminate alcohol from my diet (not that I drink all that much now…) because I just don’t see it as advancing my goals of aging gracefully, but these cocktails are appealing. The moonlighter–with lavender and chamomile–sounds particularly interesting.

Crafthouse Cocktails prides itself on making canned cocktails “without a malt base, neon coloring, excess sugar, and artificial flavoring.” Instead, they use “all-natural ingredients and high-quality, small-batch craft spirits to create their concoctions.” And to that I say, yes!

And they’re local:

As Chicago’s hometown airline, we’re proud to partner with an innovative Chicago-based company to further elevate the onboard experience.

CONCLUSION

With the introduction of cocktails onboard, United Airlines is making its beverage selection even more premium…watch out Delta! Crafthouse Cocktails makes several other bottled cocktails like Moscow Mules, rum Old Fashioned, and smoky Margaritas. Maybe if these first cocktails do well United will expand the menu…

My dad is a wine maker and drinks A LOT of wine, obviously. He is now 76 and looks absolutely amazing, you’d never guess his age. What I’m trying to say is that wine is fine 🙂 I also drink alcohol very sparingly, well worth it for a special occasion.

Remember, it’s not how long you life, but how you live. A couple drinks occasionally isn’t going to change how long you live compared to the garbage we eat daily.

Not an issue for most on here who live a good life but something to about for the regular middle class Ham & Egger out there living for a vacation or 2 a year.

I’m guess this is the end for the On the Rocks Old Fashioned. I will miss them.
