United Airlines just released a heartwarming video covering CEO Oscar Munoz’s visit to areas devastated by Hurricane Harvey in Houston.
I don’t think the video requires much commentary. Here it is–
I love the simple truth in this video — that tragedy often brings out the very best in people. This horrible storm caused incredible and extensive damage. Thousands lost their homes and all their earthy possessions. But now the community is coming together.
In terms of United, workers across ethnic, racial, and social lines are teaming up to help each other clean-up and rebuild. It’s heartening: a glimpse that United Airlines is not just an amalgamation of disinterested employees but a family.
And you can see that Oscar Munoz cares. He’s not the aloof CEO. He’s a hands-on leader and you really cannot fake that in PR video.
CONCLUSION
That teary-eyed man in the green shirt toward the end of the video brought tears to my eyes as well. Watch the video. It’s worth three minutes of your time.

Its a disgrace that in this group of blog, you are the only vanguard of united, and they haven’t invited you to their private airport restaurant…..
Uh, since when did Senor Oscar become a FEMA deputy director. You’d think that for 45 million per year the man would find some time to fix his airline. But that would mean work, effort, thought, creativity. Buzzing down to Houston is sightseeing and doing optics for the gullible. I don’t buy the hurricane PR, but but a airline seat with competent and sincere service. Leave the natural disaster cleanup to the experts, and instead work on the man made disaster in your company, Mr. CEO.
Sour grapes ? What exactly do you want him to “fix” that United has not been working on since the infamous Dr. Dao incident ? Plenty of improvements have been made. I can never understand people who blame a CEO (who you can see is very involved and caring of and with employees), more so than anyone prior to him than I can remember as far back as 1978. What happened, didn’t get an upgrade on your last flight, somebody at United didn’t agree with your “entitled” but unreasonable request ?
Hopefully he didn’t “re-accommodate” the storm victims like he “re-accommodates” Chicago to Louisville passengers…
He actually donated $1,000,000 of his own money to help employees that were victims of Hurricane Harvey. As well, United has donated millions worth of supplies +++ into Houston.
