It’s not just pizza that is coming to United Airlines next month. The airline will also introduce additional buy-on-board items that refresh its Bistro on Board menu.
New items include:
- Protein Bowl
- Breakfast Flatbread
- Thai Style Chicken Ciabatta Sandwich
- Refreshed Tapas Box
- Refreshed Ben Flying Box (kid’s snack box)
The breakfast flatbread contains egg white crumble, mozzarella cheese, cherry tomatoes, spinach, parsley, and herbed ricotta cheese spread on focaccia flatbread ($9.99 or $12.99 with Greek yogurt and fruit)
The Protein Box contains cracked wheat salad, roasted red pepper hummus, sesame sticks, and almonds ($9.99).
The Thai-style chicken ciabatta contains grilled chicken breast, mozzarella cheese, carrots, red peppers, and Thai-style cilantro aioli ($9.99).
The Tapas snack box ($9.59) has always a favorite so I was concerned to see an “enhancement” but the new ingredients look fine:
New items in Tapas are crackers (new brand, still flatbread crackers), almonds (used to be the 100 calorie pack now they’re the MAddie K sea salt), mints (Vermint ginger mint [will be tic tacs for the first 1-2 wks]), new brand of hummus but still classic hummus, and the sea salt dark chocolate caramel, and a dried fruit mix. Other updates to the components planned to come in the next few months after it’s launched, such as switching the fruit to flavored olives.
United tells me the Ben Flyin ($5.29) snack box has become very popular and United is just trying to make it a bit more friendly.
We’ve updated the entire box – It now has a tri-fold activity sheet detailing the adventures of United’s Ben Flyin adventure bear and his friends, including various games and coloring activities, along with CrayAngles which are triangular shaped double sided (two colors) crayons (two crayons total for four colors) and on the food side, it has mini chocolate chip cookies, raisins, squeezable applesauce, and Goldfish.
CONCLUSION
While United may be most stingy in providing complimentary meals to its economy passengers, I do think United has the best buy-on-board menu and the changes set to take effect on 01 July 2017 further cement this.
Your pic shows the popular cheeseburger, but your post the other day suggested it was gonna be dropped. Please confirm the cb and “french get crisps” live on…
The hamburger will live on. I’ve edited the previous post.
…french fry crisps…
Im a Brit who prefers REAL chips from real ‘spuds’, but when in America one has to go with the locals…. Also how comes it’s rate in USA to find vinegar for one’s …french fries.
Wow, and even vegetarian friendly on the latest meal changes. Good news.
