United Airlines Reduces Service To Latin America, Halts Buenos Aires

The spread of COVID-19 in Latin America has depressed demand for airfare in a region that was until recently better insulated than Asia and Europe. United Airlines is responding by a series of suspensions and frequency reductions.

United Suspends Last Link To Buenos Aires

On Monday, March 16, United will suspends its daily service between Houston (IAH) and Buenos Aires (EZE). Long before the latest coronavirus outbreak, United suspended its Newark (EWR) to EZE service, blaming low demand. Its Houston flight was United’s last link to Argentina. At this time, no date has been announced for a planned service resumption.

United Suspends Service From Washington To So Sao Paulo

United will suspend service on Monday, April 1st, between Washington Dulles (IAD) and Sao Paulo (GRU). The delayed timing of the suspension suggests this is more revenue related, but service between GRU and Chicago (ORD) and IAH will continue for the time being.

United Reduces Frequencies To Several Cities

United will reduce one daily flight from the following cities:

  • Houston
    • Mexico City (MEX)
    • Bogota (BOG)
    • Queretaro, Mexico (QRO)
    • Monterrey, Mexico (MTY)
    • San Luis Potosi, Mexico (SLP)
  • Newark
    • Mexico City
    • Santo Domingo (SDQ)

United Delays New Flights to Port of Spain + Mexico City

United will scratch the planned launch of new service between Newark and Port of Spain, Trinidad (POS). It will also delay its planned third daily service between San Francisco (SFO) and MEX.

CONCLUSION

Each day, it seems, I am writing about the next round of service reductions. This is far more than an inconvenience; it recommends the greatest existential threat that airlines have ever faced. Today’s announcement is just another example why.

Very unfortunate, this was a convenient flight with good connections from the rest of USA.

Hi! Quick question that’s entirely off topic. Do you know how
to make your site mobile friendly? My blog looks weird when viewing from my iphone.
I’m trying to find a template or plugin that might be able
to fix this issue. If you have any recommendations, please share.

    Appreciate it!
