Review: VIP Lounge Los Cabos International Airport (SJD – T2)

Due to a rolling delay on my United flight to Denver, I spent over an hour in the newly remodeled VIP Lounge in Terminal 2 of Los Cabos International Airport (SJD), a part of the Priority Pass network.

VIP Lounge Los Cabos International Airport (SJD) Review – Terminal 2

The lounge is located beyond security in the food court of Terminal 2. It is open weekdays from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm and on Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm. Priority Pass membership (available through several credit cards) provides access with a same-day departing boarding pass.

The outside of the lounge is still under construction, but the inside has been totally remodeled. As it was my first time in SJD, I have no point of reference to compare the old and new lounge.

Stepping inside I found a long line waiting to get in (and even a sitting area for those waiting). I figured the lounge was full, but it was not. Instead, each incoming guest was escorted from the check-in desk to a specific assigned table or couch. The line moved fairly quickly. Many in line thought they had access but did not and were turned away (it was not clear on what basis they asserted access).

After checking in, I was escorted to the bar, where it appeared that solo travelers were seated. A small menu card featuring food and drinks plus wi-fi instructions was offered.

There really was not a buffet, except for little bowls of sliced celery and carrots as well as some cookies.

The lounge is quite large and though there were many people inside (I’d estimate close to 200), the lounge did not feel crowded; there were seats for everyone.

I stopped by the restroom, which was clean (though no showers).

While I left the lounge without eating or drinking, I returned after a flight delay and tried the beef empanadas which were a nice little snack along with some club soda.

The gate areas in SJD T2 are rather spartan, so this was a nice place to wait for my flight.

Did you ask the reason for no tacos on the menu?

I called Andrés Manuel López Obrador to complain! 😉

He told me I should have flown Mexicana.

I think the thinly sliced carrots and celery is called crudite to make it sound more refined.

It pairs well with tequila and the prices have gone through the roof

        Tequila or crudite prices?

I have been to this lounge 3 times. The remodel was certainly much needed. Was there again first week in December and the line was pretty long- The checkin not very fast either.. The food seems to have improved also as n the past very little choices to order or in the buffett… It is the only game there… The front end could be a little more friendlier,.

I was in this lounge with my family last February and it was basically the same. A very limited menu of food and an equally limited menu of poor quality cheap drinks. It’s really a disappointment and fr9m a food and beverage perspective the worst priority pass lounge I’ve visited. The old lounge that was at the other end of the terminal was much better.

Without question this is the worst lounge in existence. Crazy, because it appears pretty nice, but the food is completely inedible, drinks are terrible. It’s laughable. I go to Cabo a lot, and while it’s better than sitting in the terminal, that’s a stretch. I hate myself every time I enter this torture chamber.

I think the terminal is horrible, though, so I do appreciate this place, as bad as it is.
