I got off a flight a couple days ago in Los Angeles and made a beeline for the restroom. I wasn’t the only one. But apparently I was the only one who remembered to wash his hands.
Wash Your Hands After Using Restroom – At Home, At The Airport, And Onboard!
I’m ready to ditch the masks, but one thing I’ve learned from the pandemic is to keep my hands clean: proper hygiene is key.
Yes, I did get COVID-19 and lost my sense of smell for several weeks…but no cold or flu the entire season. And I credit that to wearing masks and frequently washing my hands with soap and water or using hand sanitizer.
Colds stink. The flu stinks. We’re on our way out of a deadly pandemic that killed far too many around the world. It simply floored me to see two guys walk into the restroom, use the restroom, and walk right out.
And I saw it earlier in the day as well in Orlando. No joke. Three times in one day likely means it is happening a whole lot more.
I’m not the hygiene police or your mother and so I am not going to speak up if you fail to practice simple hygiene steps.
But please folks, wash your hands after using the toilet. It’s really not rocket science or a conspiracy.
CONCLUSION
I know we are all anxious to get back to “normal” after putting life on pause for over a year. But if there is one thing we should learn form the pandemic (and there are actually many), it is to practice good hygiene.
Wash. Your. Hands.
Gross but what’s incredibly stomach churning for me is when I see people walk barefoot (or just with socks) into the lavatories especially on long haul flights. Those floors are so disgusting.
Matthew – is award expert still functioning? I sent in a request and a follow up with no response. Wasn’t sure if maybe it was not operating currently?
Hi Nathan, yes Award Expert is still functioning. When did you send in the request? I apologize you did not get a response…I will get to the bottom of this. If we can still help, feel free to send me an email – matthew at upgrd dot com. Again, sorry!
Thanks. I sent a note. Feel free to delete these postings.
The flu was cancelled last season by COVID-19. Essentially, influenza is a weaker virus (so to speak) than the novel coronavirus. Since most channels to transmit flu were cancelled by covid-19, well, the flu itself was cancelled. Only baddass virus got to transmit last winter. And the stuff that give you covid-19 was worse than the stuffs that give you flu. Your hand-washing might have helped, but not by much.
Side note: your mask wearing *might* (not completely proven, so take my words with about a ton of salt) have helped with how severe your covid-19 bout was. Some research indicated that a lighter exposure to the virus is kinda sorta correlated with lighter symptoms.
Americans have become so dumb that many believe that things like blood letting, going outside in the cold while sick, or purposely introducing germs to their kids are better than modern medicine. After all their middle school friend told them so on facebook when selling essential oils to cure cancer. They know more than doctors.
Extremely well said
Hand washing encroaches on personal freedoms and is an example of the Govt. trying to be a nanny in promoting it. Best to protest this over reach by never washing hands, or even showering for that matter. All that’s needed is an $80 plane fare to Pensacola and some firearms. Soap is another example of the leftist agenda. Stupid Fauci.
Sarcasm at its finest. I mean it has to be….because no one is really this stupid
“All that’s needed is an $80 plane fare to Pensacola and some firearms.”
This is the quote of the day. Glad to have the reply function back,
There are several reasons to wash hands after using the airport restroom.
1. Part of periodic washing to reduce pathogens (germs) picked up during the course of activity and touching things in the restroom, and
2. prevent from eating poop. Yes, it does happen! Fecal material is all over the place in a public restroom. There have been studies showing that fecal material end up in people’s mouths and not because they are licking a big piece of poop.
Reason 2 is yukky but true.
Filthy creatures, demonstrating contempt for others.
Washing after going to the bathroom? What about before? You filthy beasts.
@Stuart
Who is trying to force others to wash their hands? One is able to wash one’s hands after touching things touched by filthy beasts such as yourself, just as one is able to wear an N-95 mask if he is afraid of getting cooties from others in public or avoid going out in public altogether.
I started washing and sanitizing my hands back in 2018 because I’m bad about touching my face with my hands. Then that fall/winter while a bunch of younger guys in the office were consistently getting sick I managed to avoid the colds and flu so I think keeping the hands clean helped.
And yeah, my observations of guys leaving bathroom stalls w/o washing hands also causes me to be careful of what I touch with my hands. We have a secure combo lock that we have to use with our badge and a pin and I make sure to use a tissue to avoid touching an item that is touched hundreds of times a day by people who don’t clean their hands.
