A Tasty Beef Dinner On Aeromexico

Matthew Klint Posted onNovember 7, 2020November 14, 2023 7 Comments

My Meal of the Week feature examines an airline meal from my travels over the years. This may be a meal from earlier in the week or it may be a meal served over a decade ago.

This week we go back two years to a late-night flight on Aeromexico from Mexico City to Paris onboard the 787-9 in business class. Despite the late hour, a full dinner was served shortly after takeoff. Although airline beef is often to be avoided, I greatly enjoyed my short ribs onboard.

Aeromexico Business Class Dinner

Service began with a cheese appetizer and choice of beverage. The brie and Manchego cheese was very mild.

For the main course, I chose short rib served with couscous, nuts, Chinampa-grown herbs, and tomatillo.

While not the best-looking dish, it was quite tasty. The meat was tender and full of flavor and the nuts (pecans, pine nuts, cashews, almonds, hazelnuts) and tomatillos were an excellent combo. Also on the tray was a shrimp appetizer and green salad with zucchini in it.

Generally, I avoid ordering red meat on airplanes if there is another appealing choice. The mix of spices and nuts caught my attention here so I decided to chance it…and was not disappointed. Short ribs tend to be much better than “steak” or another beef dish that is more dependent upon limited cook time.

For dessert, three flavors of Häagen Daz ice cream were offered (strawberry, chocolate, vanilla) along with an orange-flavored pound cake. I just had some chocolate ice cream. No coffee since I planned to sleep.

This was my first longhaul flight on Aeromexico and not only was I pleased with this midnight meal, but the entire flight overall. You can read my full review here.

Ah the good ole days. We may not see this again for a while. I recently flew business class from DC to Frankfurt and also Zurich to DC and both were horrible with food. They now just bring all your food out at once including the ice cream so it’s all melted by the time you eat it.

Traveling these days is NO fun at all.

Air Canada is the same. The plop a box in front of you and then serve wine in a thin plastic cup. Coffee comes in a small paper cup. Business class headsets are now the cheap economy ones. The service is a joke. The only fun part of travel now is that there are no lines.

I am a frequent traveler, my personal experience says that not all conditions are favorable to travel by air sometimes conditions caused by nature, and sometimes by our problems it results in modification or cancellation of flight ticket. I always prefer to go with Aeromexico airways because it’s easy to understand the cancellation and change policy and they offer much more flexibility. I’m very thankful to the team of Airlinespolicy.com, who guide me about Aeromexico Airline and its all policy in detail. https://airlinespolicy.com/cancellation-policy/aeromexico-cancellation-policy/
