Review: Aeromexico Lounge Mexico City (MEX)

After spending most of the evening in the nearby American Express Centurion Lounge, the Aeromexico Salon Premier in was quite a letdown.

Terminal 2 of Mexico City’s Benito Juarez International Airport features two Aeromexico lounges within close proximity of one another on the upper level. Both are Priority Pass lounges. I visited the larger of the two located in the center of the upper level.

The lounge was dimly lit and crowded, feeling more like a dive nightclub or oversized bar than an airport lounge. While seating was sparse, power ports were sparser. The flicker and noise coming from multiple TVs around the lounge was annoying.

I’ll give the lounge credit for two things. First, there was a decent selection of food that puts most domestic airline lounges in the USA to shame. Food included soup, salad, sandwiches, corn, peanuts, beer, wine, and soft drinks.

Second, the bartender at each of the bars doubled as a barista. Despite the late house, I ordered a cappuccino and it turned out very nicely.

This lounge does have a spa, but it was closed. Just note that the spa is not complimentary but part of the service.

Showers are available–but there was long waiting list so there are no pictures. The restroom appeared clean but smelled like a sewer.

CONCLUSION

Because the lounge was so crowded I ended up not staying very long. While this lounge surely beats sitting in the gate area, I found the American Express lounge to be magnitudes better than this one. This lounge is open daily from 4:00 A.M. to 11:00 P.M.

Pray do tell if you took the opportunity to practice your Mexican slang phrases while visiting. I trust you put to good use all you learned watching Televisa soap operas. I know you cried during the separation scene in “Los ricos también lloran”.

It would make me proud hearing you placing an order followed by “orale bato” and asking for clarification with” la neta mano”. 🙂

Alas, I only ordered café con leche and said gracias.

I agree that this lounge was a joke. Overcrowded with terrible food.

I do so hope the Airline takes all your input to heart before our 5 hour layover in March 2019!

I am currently in this club as I write this comment. The bathroom is clean and smells fine. It is crowded, but no more crowded than a typical club during peak hours.
