Air Namibia, flag carrier of Namibia, has suspended all operations and will shortly be liquidated.
Air Namibia Ends Operations, Will Be Liquidated
In a late night announcement on Twitter, Air Namibia announced all flight operations would be suspended February 11, 2021. The carrier will also not accept new reservations. Passengers were also provided a pair of email addresses with which they can request refunds.

Per CH-Aviation, Air Namibia has informed its staff of 636 employees that each will receive a 12-month severance package, but benefits will end immediately.
Later today, airline leaders and the Namibian government will meet to finalize the liquidation.
While there was hope that the government would bail out the beleaguered airline, the government said it could not afford it and no private equity investor was found.
The airline liquidates with the following assets:
- 3 Airbus A319s (one is leased)
- 2 Airbus A330s (both are leased)
- 4 Embraer EMB-135ER
- 1 Boeing 737-500

Sad to see Air Namibia close. Have met many of the crew.
But SAA is following soon. Yes there are talks of trying to revive it, but I won’t hold my breath.

Never flew this carrier, but in the early 90’s I often saw an Air Namibia 747SP at Frankfurt – looking rather exotic amongst all the Lufthansa jets.
Surprised we didn’t give them a Government bailout.
