I had a lovely stay at the Andaz Prague with excellent service, comfortable accommodations, and delicious food and drinks. This is a wonderful property in the Hyatt portfolio and a gem of a hotel in the Czech capital.
Andaz Prague Review
I spent my final night in Prague at the Andaz, paying about 300 USD for my stay. The price more than doubles during peak season. As a Category 6 hotel, free nights range from 21,000 (non-peak) to 25,000 (standard) to 29,000 (peak) per night. I preferred to pay $300 versus burn 25K points, but I would have been happy to use 29K points versus paying $650/night.
Location
Located in the heart of Prague’s city center in the historic 1916 Sugar Palace, this 176-room hotel opened in 2022. From the hotel, you can reach most major Prague tourist attractions by foot.
On my way out, I walked to the nearby Prague bus station, where I caught a direct bus to the airport, which was a fraction of the price of Uber and took the same amount of time.
Check-In
Arriving around 3:00 pm, I was warmly greeted by check-in staff and offered a beverage, which is a signature touch at Hyatt’s Andaz properties. The lobby was full of natural light and included an eclectic mix of furniture.
Room (Suite)
As a Globalist, I was upgraded to a suite on the top level, room 507.
The room was very thoughtfully laid out and decorated, like a city apartment, with a sitting area, work area, and sleeping area.
The restroom was large and included two sinks, a toilet, a large soaking tub, and a separate shower. Shower amenities were “Eleventh Hour” from Byredo (a Swedish company).
Some chocolates had been placed in the room as a welcome amenity. The mini-bar included a generous selection of water and soft drinks and the room also had a tea kettle and a Nespresso machine with pods.
Fitness Center
The hotel has a beautiful and brand new fitness center with the latest Techno Gym equipment. The gym is open 24/7.
Spa + Wellness
A full-service spa called “Femme” is available, which offers a wide range of treatments and includes a sauna and steam room (which all guests can use on a complimentary basis).

Globalist Happy Hour
I quite liked the Globalist Happy Hour concept at MEZ bar. I was presented with three scents:
The hostess asked me to choose the scent I found most pleasing and she would make a cocktail that matched it (my choice had a strong citrus scent).
Not bad!
Food + Drink
The hotel offers 23/7 (yes, not 24/7) room service as well as all-day dining in ZEM Restaurant as well as drinks and more casual food in the aforementioned MEZ Bar.
ZEM Restaurant
The Czech bistro is open for breakfast (7:00 am – 11:00 am), lunch (12:00 pm – 3:00 pm), and dinner (6:00 pm – 11:00 pm) daily (brunch is served in place of lunch on Sundays).
I had breakfast here and loved the hybrid buffet, featuring high-quality baked foods, juices, fruits, yogurts, meats, cheese, and salads, coupled with an a la carte menu featuring a number of hot items. You could order as much as you wanted, including your choice of coffee.
The taste and quality of the food and drinks was excellent: fresh-squeezed orange juice, delicious coffee, ripe fruit, and delicious Turkish eggs and avo toast.
MEZ Bar
In addition to the Globalist Happy Hour, I enjoyed my favorite cocktail, a gin basil smash, with some cashews at the bar.
The bar has a wide selection of beer, wine, spirits, cocktails, and non-alcoholic drinks.
Room Service
Usually, when I am traveling solo, I just do room service or takeaway since I don’t like to sit in restaurants alone, but I walked to the nearby Cafe Imperial for dinner, so I did not partake in the room service menu here. Here’s the menu. There’s only a very light overnight menu and no room service between 6:00 am and 7:00 am.
Service
Across the board, the service was excellent here. Everyone was kind and attentive, from the check-in staff to the bar staff to the restaurant staff to the spa staff. Of course, I would expect nothing less, but it was still a pleasure to be treated so kindly by everyone here.
CONCLUSION
As much as I loved the value of the Linder Prague Castle, I loved the Andaz…the location, the quality, the service, and the amenities. While I would happily return to either Hyatt property in Prague, this hotel has a special place in my heart.
Not a criticism at all, but I’m not sure I’ve ever seen someone favor horizontal striped shirts and sweaters more than you. Is there a story there? After your recent flight with Grimace, perhaps you are more of a Hamburgler kind of guy?
Ha. Well, I have a lot of solid colors too. I do like blue and stripes…just a personal preference.
Stripes are great as long as no one supects you’re an escaped convict !
..lol
“no room service between 6:00 am and 7:00 pm.”
You mean 7:00 am.
Looks like a nice hotel overall.
The Linder Prague Castle was a good value but it’s the location where the Andaz wins. Hopefully at the price it did not have the sweaty bedding.
Bedding was perfect.
royal suite at the hilton prague is better
Andaz is such an odd brand. That looks like a solid 4-star hotel but I’m not sure I would call it 5 stars. Hyatt classifies it as a luxury, whatever that means. But there’s no bar of soap in the bathroom.
I had room 505, just next door to yours. Lucky for me, it was a proper suite, not a junior. Your review nails it. This is really a great property, though somewhat unfortunately, the AC was really not that cold. Prague was having a heat wave and daytime temps were over 35. A scorcher.
I’d return any time. I was curious about the Tibetan flag across the street from the breakfast restaurant. I couldn’t tell if it was an official representative office, or just a local that really likes Tibet.
“Femme” seems like an odd name for a wellness spa, unless they cater to women only…. What self-respecting male would be caught dead there ? … ! .. lol
Although the playful ‘ZEM’ & ‘MEZ’ complimentary restaurant/bar names are cute and compensate for the above, even though I imagine I would confusingly interchange them !
That’s one of the better-looking hotel gyms I’ve seen a while. Usually, it seems they’re an afterthought unless you’re staying at a Park Hyatt/Four Seasons/Ritz/St. Regis (or similar) property, and even then they can still be hit and miss. Great review!
