What is business class like on an Asiana Airbus A321?
Asiana has discontinued operations in Siem Reap, ceding the destination to its low-cost Air Seoul subsidiary. Thus, an Asiana flight review from Siem Reap to Seoul will be of limited value. Nevertheless, the carrier still has an A321 fleet with the same business class fleet and similar onboard food, so I do want to highlight it.
5hrs, 20min is a long flight without a lie-flat bed in Asia, but the business class seats are comfortable. I’d rate them slightly more comfortable than a domestic first class seat in the USA, with decent recline and a footrest. The cabin features 12 seats.
FAs offered pre-departure sparkling wine, orange juice, or still water.
While no amenity kits were distributed, eye shades, ear plugs, and slippers were presented to each passenger.
Additional amenities were available in the lavatory.
Blankets and pillows were not up to longhaul norms, but were sufficient.
Food was a pleasant surprise on this flight. It was late night and I figured there would perhaps be a light snack or perhaps just breakfast prior to landing. Instead, FAs served a full dinner service after takeoff.
It was abbreviated in the sense that it was served on a single tray, but that was appreciated considering the short flight duration.
I ordered a delicious olive-encrusted salmon, one of the best fish plates I have ever experienced on an airline. Also on the tray: mashed potatoes, diced veggies, a shrimp salad, and a fruit bowl. FAs offered bread from a basket and I enjoyed both crusty sourdough and garlic bread.
My brother ordered a beef dish–
I did not end up with much shuteye, but at least managed an hour. A full IFE selection is available via setback monitors. No wi-fi onboard.
CONCLUSION
Asiana shorthaul is so much better than Star Alliance competitors Thai and ANA. I enjoyed the short flight very much.
OMG! A post that’s not about the guy thrown off UA 3411! 🙂
Agree 100% about Asiana. I’ve never flown ANA, but they’re miles ahead of TG, which was tremendously disappointing from BKK to HYD.
Not mentioning the great variety of wines is bad.. Haha . The food course from the beginning to the end is amazing good. I used to travel a lot between shenzhen and incheon, and Asiana crew members is one of best on aviation industry.
