Review: Asiana First Class Lounge Seoul (ICN)

The Asiana First Class Lounge in Seoul is comparatively disappointing to other first class lounges, but nevertheless a comfortable spot to wait for your flight.

Between my Thai Airways flight from Bangkok and flight home to Los Angeles, I had a six hour layover. I spent all of it in this lounge. The lounge is open daily from 06:50AM to 12:30 AM and is located in ICN Terminal 1 near Gate 11 (4th floor).

Asiana First Class Lounge Seoul Seating

What I appreciated most about this lounge was the extensive seating for a reliably small group of guests. The lounge never emptied out, but never got remotely close to being crowded.

I would have loved some soft classical music playing from the grand piano:

The lounge included a nice buffet of hot/cold dishes from the east and west…salads, breads, cheeses, noodles, dim sum, pasta, meats, self-serve liquor, and even a special refrigerator full of ice cream. It’s too bad this lounge does not offer bibimbap…I would have enjoyed that.

Asiana First Class Lounge Seoul Relaxing “Rooms”

Rather than call them relaxing rooms, I’d say Asiana offers a partitioned relaxing rooms with an easy chair that is really intended for sitting and not sleeping…

Far more comfortable than these chairs are the trio of massage chairs:

Asiana First Class Lounge Business Center

The business center includes six workstations and a laptop computer. Printing is also available.

Asiana First Class Lounge TV/DVD Room

A TV/DVD room offers the same chairs as the relaxation rooms with TVs and DVD players. Don’t worry: noise cancelling headphones are also provided and you cannot turn up your volume so as to disturb others.

Asiana First Class Lounge Restrooms + Showers

Finally, note that shower suites and restrooms are available. The restrooms are clean and best of all, featured advanced Toto toilets! Toiletries are also available (without even asking).

a bathroom with sinks and soap dispensers

CONCLUSION

This is an above-average business class lounge. While it lacks the individualized features like a la carte dining, car service, or massages that make it a truly first class lounge, it is comfortable and spacious.

Next time just walk to the second floor cafe in the main terminal and enjoy a traditional bibimbap served on a stone pistil to crunch the rice. Showers are free at ICN. The micro hotel charges by the hour and offers excellent restful blackout rooms.

Any idea if you can use the lounge after your F flight while you wait for your connection on a non Asiana airline?
