An unexpected but pleasant surprise on my annual Green Lake trip this year was the discovery of a great coffee shop called Stone Oak Coffee Haus in the town of Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin.

On our way out of town, my friend and I planned to stop at Mugs Coffeeshop in Ripon, which is our usual source for great coffee each year. However, the morning of our departure got a little busy and we got a late start. He had a meeting in Chicago and was dropping me off at Milwaukee Airport on his way down, so we did not have time for Mugs.
But he also appreciates great coffee and found a place called Stone Oak Coffee Haus in Fond Du Lac, which we pass through on our way to I-94. It was actually a bit out of our way, but well worth the stop!

I loved the house…such a cute idea for a coffee shop. And Andrew Enea, the barista and owner, was superb. Great to chat with and he knew how to make a great coffee.
My friend had a pumpkin spice latte (not my cup of tea) and I had a cortado. It was so good I had a second.
The atmosphere was really nice and in warmer months there is outdoor seating too on the front porch and in the rear.
I’m going to have to deliberately plan future trips to Green Lake around the openings of hours of Stone Oak!
There are many great independent coffee shops in that part of Wisconsin. I wish there were more independents in the WDC area. Happy Thanksgiving!
