One of the more pleasant surprises on my trip to Kathmandu was how great the coffee was at Tribhuvan International Airport (KTM) in both the domestic and international terminals.
Best Coffee At Kathmandu Airport (KTM)
Nepal is not a world-renowned producer of coffee like Ethiopia or Guatemala, but it does have a respectable coffee industry and a lot of domestic production. I tried some coffee before my helicopter tour of Mount Everest in the domestic terminal and found it excellent.
Domestic Terminal
There was but one coffee shop (in fact, there was only one shop that sold food or drinks) and it featured an excellent Italian-made La Marzocco machine which helps all coffee taste better.
It was a cold morning in Kathmandu and the hot coffee warmed us up.
International Terminal
On our way out, the lounge coffee simply did not cut it, so we had another cup in the international terminal prior to flying to Bhutan.
Once again, food and drinks were limited to a single concessionaire, which also sold packaged food like tea and chocolate intended as souvenirs.
Once again, excellent coffee.
The point of this post is simple: you can expect good coffee at KTM Airport. And at 300 NPR (just a bit over 2 USD) for a cup of coffee, the price is also right.
Best tasting hot coffee ever in one’s life is at High Camp , on descent , after summiting Everest .
Now , That would be a good coffee .
