Great Coffee In San Pedro Sula, Honduras

Matthew Klint Posted onJuly 7, 2023November 13, 2023 2 Comments

The coffee culture in San Pedro Sula is top-notch; the city is suffused with superb cafés and my only problem was reaching my caffeine limit before I tried all of them.

I have to admit, my expectations were guarded. Of course, the coffee scene had blown me away in a very positive way in Guatemala, but San Pedro Sula seemed rougher and edgier than Guatemala City or Antigua.

But I searched for “flat white” on Google and a number of places popped up (when checking for coffee, flat white is typically a good sign that the coffee is worth drinking. In fact, there were a LOT of places…

My first stop was at Încânta Café, just down the street from the Hyatt Place hotel where I was staying.

Both indoor and outdoor seating were available.

The flat white was superb and I was able to get some work done here using the wi-fi network before hading out to my next stop.

The coffee was less than $2.00.

Next, I walked up a street toward Cafeteo.

Drive-through…

Inside, I found a lively dining room full of patrons and a decent cappuccino (a bit on the weak side…next time I would add an extra shot). I loved the beautiful coffee machine, though I did not care for having to drink my coffee in a paper cup.

I loved that Cafeteo takes pour overs seriously and brews on site.

My cappuccino was about $2.50.

I think I could have stopped at this point, but my fun was just beginning. Next, I found a place right around the corner aptly called The Corner Coffee Bar.

I had the place to myself and enjoyed another flat white ($2), beautifully crafted with latte art shaped like a swan.

My last stop was a fair walk away at a place called Daheim Café.

Daheim Café drew my attention because it was styled as a German café: the menu was in both German and Spanish (the staff did not hablar alemán)

Here, I enjoyed not only the best coffee of the day, but a great white chocolate chunk cookie as well.

Both indoor and outdoor seating were available:

And after my fourth cup of coffee, I wisely called it a day.

CONCLUSION

If your travels take you to San Pedro Sula, there is no shortage of great coffee. I loved my coffee tour through San Pedro Sula and look forward to returning.

That’s awesome. I’m quite surprised to see that in SAP actually. I can’t imagine anything this nice in Tegucigalpa. Maybe I went to the wrong areas. Did you walk everywhere, Uber, Public transit?

Great tour of the San Pedro Sula coffee shops! I haven’t visited these ones specifically, but I’ll be going March next year and will try to visit them. In the past I’ve visited several and my all time favourite is Welchez Café.

My family tells me I should also visit these other ones too:
    1. Caobas Café & Vivero
    2. Panistro
    3. L’art Du Pain
