Back from a long hiatus, the British Airways 100K points sign-up bonus is available once again:
Apply by May 6, 2011 and you’ll also receive our most generous enrollment offer of the year—up to 100,000 bonus BA Points. You’ll earn 50,000 bonus BA Miles after your first purchase on the card and an additional 50,000 bonus BA Miles after spending $2,500 on your card within the first three months of activation.
I use this card as my primary credit card here in Germany because it has no foreign transaction fees. At 1.25 miles per dollar, the points also add up fast. Another great feature of this card is British Airway’s Household Account program, in which you and up to five additional family members or friends can pool your mileage.
A note of caution, though: When it comes time to redeem those miles expect a hefty fuel surcharge. With fuel prices continuing to rise, the only thing your miles will get you is the elimination of the base fare. You’ll still be responsible for taxes (including the UK’s outrageous passenger duty fee and luxury tax) and the fuel surcharge, which be even higher if you book into a premium cabin.
But 100,000 miles is a great sign-up bonus and can get you just about anywhere in the world.
