The British Airways Galleries First Lounge in London Heathrow is my last choice among oneworld emerald lounges in Terminal 3, but nevertheless offers comfortable space, an a la carte menu, and much more tranquilly than the adjoining Galleries Club Lounge.

British Airways Galleries First Lounge LHR T3 Review

Location + Hours

The lounge is located in Heathrow Terminal 3 past the duty free and dining area and to the right. You’ll need to walk down a long hallway to access the lounge. Before the pandemic, operating hours were daily from 5:00AM to 10:30PM. Access is reserved for passengers traveling in first class on oneworld or holding oneworld emerald status. Currently, the lunge is closed.

Food + Drink

A buffet with hot and cold dishes included a full salad bar, soups, afternoon tea (sandwiches and scones), crackers, cheese, pasta, cooked vegetables, grilled chicken and pork, curry and rice, fruit, and various cakes.

As a first class lounge, there was also a restaurant in the rear of the lounge with an a la carte menu. I entered the restaurant only for pictures, but noticed everyone seemed to be ordering the same thing: the Angus beef burger on a pretzel roll with chips (French Fries). Admittedly, it did look tasty.

The lounge also had a much better selection of alcohol than the nearby American Airlines International First Class lounge. All drinks were self-serve. The coffee was not great…stick to espresso or just “coffee” and avoid any espresso drinks with milk.

Champagne Bar

As you enter the lounge, you’ll come to an open area with a Champagne bar.

By the way, the Champagne on offer was Canard-Duchêne.

Seating

I think most would describe the lounge as “tired” looking, but I liked the old paisley-style furniture and appreciated that the lounge never got very crowded (though there were at least 60 people in the lounge). Power ports were available, but bring your adapter unless you have UK devices.

Restrooms + Showers

Restrooms are available, but if you need to shower you’ll need to visit the adjoining Club lounge. They still look like the sort of restrooms you find on a commuter train.

a couple of bottles of liquid soap

Elemis Spa

Reserved for longhaul premium cabin passengers (I tired…), a spa offers limited complimentary treatments and a menu of paid treatments.

Service

Outside the restaurant were several employees had congregated, I did not see many employees. The service desk near the lounge entrance was empty.

CONCLUSION

I found this lounge far superior to the next-door Club lounge. It was more tranquil, spacious, and had a restaurant with a decent menu. Although I did not spend much time here, I look forward to returning next time.

Wow even the BA lounges are making me feel depressed about being grounded.

I was recently gifted an upgraded status from BA from Bronze to Silver this year. Says it’s good until 2022, which is nice. I noticed that there was a Champagne Bar sign. Do you know if there was a charge for that service or was it included as well?

It was included. All food and drink, including nice stuff like Johnny Walker Blue, is complimentary.

Good to know. Thanks for that.

I drank about a 1/2 bottle of JW Blue on my last F A380 ORD-LHR flight haha. It’s not actually my favorite whisky, but it is pretty good. I just do it because I normally wouldn’t buy a whisky at that price.
