Remarkable Restraint From Police After Plastered Delta Air Lines Passenger Refuses To Disembark

Last July, I wrote about the sad story of 23-year-old Adelaide Schrowang, who created quite a disturbance before being removed by police officers from a Delta Air Lines flight. Police body cam footage has emerged, giving us further insight into the situation.

Delta Air Lines Passenger Incident Highlights Remarkable Police Restraint (Body Cam Footage)

While most disturbances onboard aircraft are shared via mobile phone video from other passengers, in this case we have that and police body cam footage of the entire incident, which was posted to Facebook.

https://liveandletsfly.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/Adelaide-Schrowang-Delta-Air-Lines.mp4

This video was first discovered by Eye of the Flyer but View From the Wing reminded me of the incident.

Schrowang appeared to be heavily intoxicated, babbling to police about her rights and yet somehow coherent enough to seize and twist upon the words of the cops to try to cut herself a deal and avoid arrest.

Interestingly, we see the police go out of their way to be gracious and kind despite her questionable mental state which seems to be impacted by alcohol or drugs.

(side note – as much as I hate the ubiquity of our surveillance state, I do appreciate that body cams not only hold police accountable, but encourage police officers to be more magnanimous and attempt to de-escalate situations, since such technology promotes greater accountability)

Even after her leading her off the plane, downstairs to the tarmac, and away in a police vehicle, she is still treated kindly…despite her continued belligerence. At one point, she pulls the “my mother is a social worker” card as if that will help her case.

CONCLUSION

I found the video fascinating and it makes me appreciate those flight attendants and law enforcement officers who can de-escalate tensions rather than exaggerate them. Well done to the Florida cops who turned an explosive situation into a manageable one. Hopefully Schrowang will learn from this incident and turn her life around.

Yesssss, let’s play the race card!! I am Latino, my skin is darker than of many people that call themselves black and guess what??? I follow the rules and I never, ever had any issues with law enforcement. If you follow the rules, the chances you will get in trouble are very very slim no matter if you are green, blue, red or yellow. When a police officer tell you to show your hands, you do it. When I police officer tells you to get out of the plane, you do it. That is called respect. You can deal with a lawyer and sue them later on but when they tell you do follow their orders, do it.

All good points. Now let’s make the mask mandate on planes permanent and watch all the “follow the rules” types do so without causing any problems.

Well, this Government says they follow the science. There is no science that backs wearing Etsy cloth made masks and its ability to block a virus on a plane. Science also says that airplanes have the best air filtration system possible so keeping a mask mandate on planes is a demented mandate. Although I laugh every time I see people wearing masks on planes I still follow the rule. As I said, if you follow the rule (no matter how stupid it is) you won’t get in trouble. I followed the rule on an international flight the other day: wear masks all times but when eating and drinking. No, there was no only drop the masks when biting or sipping, but drop the masks when eating and drinking. So, 350 people enjoyed a full meal and drinks for 45 minutes maskless while Covid was in time out. Of course we were all reminded to put our masks back once the FAs took the plates and cups since the bad guy Covid would be unleashed again. And my kids wanted to understand the logic of that rule. My answer: ask the great grandpa in DC.

-Cloth masks from etsy shouldn’t be allowed.
-Airlines say that airlines have the best filtration.
-there is no logic in masks off for 45 minutes, but the logic of allowing bites and sips is that some protection is better than none.

The don’t fly and you don’t have to deal with mask on airplanes. Any other question?

That’s the rapist mentality. Rapists are happy when their victims comply and follow their illegal and unlawful orders. We need to change the culture where civilians stand up for themselves against illegal orders and the public will hold cops accountable for their actions.

She would have retired much sooner than anticipated albeit with a few missing teeth and broken bones.

There was a black guy who had 11 kids from 8 different women who was shot in the back by a corrupt cop and caught on smartphone video. The settlement hopefully provided for the kids education. The guy did more for his kids dying than living. As i have said before people with more than two kids who ever have to rely on government assistance should be castrated. The racism is idiots popping out kids they can’t afford to nurture and relying on others to feed them. And we normalising this behavior.

I think the recent video of how the cops broke up a fight between two teenagers, one black, and one white, says everything. It’s foolish to say that all cops are like that – they aren’t. But plenty are, not because they are inherently bad people, but because they have been trained by society to be that way. Put another way, it’s also foolish to think that an 18 year old petite blonde white girl will be treated the same way as a 25 year old 6-foot tall black man in the exact same situation.

As I read this article, I thought the same thing. If I behaved in this manner, the odds are I would not have recieved this type of treatment.

As for the person who said “playing the race card,” no one is playing anything. It’s called reality for 30 percent of this country.

This should be standard. Cops should treat civilians with respect at all times and be gentle as possible. Free Speech is a fundamental human right. Just because a civilian exercises it does not mean cops should abuse or be rough with him or her if the civilian curses or says anything. Most of these people are drunk or have mental health issues. Cops should understand that.

Certainly, there are times when flight attendants abuse passengers and civilians are heroes for standing up for themselves. Police should not automatically follow direction of flight attendants but investigate and possibly remove the flight attendant from the aircraft if his or her actions point to him or her being unsafe to fly and emotionally unstable. Fellow Passengers should make sure to point out to cops that the flight attendant is the culprit and will provide witness statements to that effect.

Now we’re going to blame the airlines for the mask rule? If you don’t like the rules set forth, then don’t fly. Flying is a privilege NOT a right. All airlines should combine the no fly list.

It is the job of the police to deescalate. You can insult an officer all you want as long as your aren’t intentionally inciting violence. Justice John Marshall Harlan famously stated, “one man’s obscenity is another man’s lyric.”

Force should only be used when an officer legitimately feels threatened physically, not emotionally. I’m glad these cops didn’t act out, but to me, it sounds like they did their job. Behavior like this is what we expect of officers. It isn’t commendable; it is what they’re being paid to do.

It’s pretty obvious that she only got this treatment because she’s a hot drunk white girl. Don’t say this is “playing the race card”… I’m a chinese girl and I can tell that I get similar treatment. Maybe not on the same level. But you’ve got to be really thick to not see it.

I don’t know what kind of training FAs (and cops) go through but it really disappoints me, how blatantly they discriminate against protected classes.

Mace in the face, cuffs and directly to jail. Too much wasted time talking to a fool. Keeping all the other passengers delayed for one person is wrong. She was asked over and over to leave the plane. No fly list is a great idea.

If I ever entertained the notion of joining the police force, this video certainly disabused me of that idea. The police offers were professional. The drunk was despicable.

Regardless of whatever this woman’s problem was, it is so totally inappropriate that things like this are s0 easily plastered all over the internet. Let her go through the system and get some help, but what purpose does it serve to have these exploitative videos all over the place? I’m sure most people would not wish to have the worst/most embarrassing moments of their lives available online for everyone in the world to see. The internet is out control. Police body cam footage does not belong showing up in places like this.
