Denmark Closes Border: What Country Is Next?

The Kingdom of Denmark sealed its borders earlier today for a period of one month, blocking most foreign nationals as it attempts to contain the spread of COVID-19. Will this happen across Europe and around the world?

Per Danish authorities, “Persons wishing to enter Denmark will be rejected at the Danish borders, unless they have a worthy purpose for entering.”

Effective Saturday 14 March, temporary border control will expand to include all of Denmark’s borders, to curb the spread of #COVID19. Persons wishing to enter Denmark will be rejected at the Danish borders, unless they have a worthy purpose for entering: https://t.co/5RRGLTzIjb

Exceptions include:

  • Danish citizens
  • Those working or living in Denmark
  • Those delivering goods to Denmark
  • Those collecting goods from Denmark
  • Those with visitation rights to children in Denmark
  • Those visiting extremely sick family members in Denmark
  • Other reasons for visiting will be assessed on a case by case business
    • Ordinary visits to family members will not be a sufficient reason to enter Denmark

Danish citizens abroad are urged to return home, as rail and air traffic will soon be halted:

Within a short time, this effort is expected to include a complete or partial closure of a significant number of train, air, and ferry routes for passenger traffic. Furthermore, this will also include a complete stop of all cruise ship traffic to Denmark.

Will This Happen Around The World?

What happens if borders around the world seal up? We see it now in Denmark and Israel, on a more limited extent in the United States. From everything I have read–and I am not a health professional–the key is still washing hands with soap and hot water, avoiding unnecessary contact, and isolating yourself plus wearing a mask if you are sick.

But I think we all need to prepare ourselves for what is becoming increasingly apparent. The situation will get worse before becoming better. Freedom of movement will face more restrictions. But we will get through this. I’m confident of that.

CONCLUSION

This is one of those weeks where you will remember where you were for the rest of your life, just like on 9/11. As the world economy appears grinding toward a halt and citizens rush home, we are living in an era of uncertainty. Let’s all do what we can to protect ourselves and others so we can return to normalcy.

I’ve seen very little social distancing or hand washing so far but lots of hysteria over toilet paper and hand sanitizer.

Don’t shake hands or even faux-kiss. Namaste or elbows is the way to go. It’s all about minimisation of risk , and flattening the infection curve (…so that healthcare systems are not totally overwhelmed with a huge spike, plus buying time for potential treatments/vaccines).
The ‘draconian’ measures are starting to work in a few places: probably why Denmark and a few others are giving it a shot, with not much downside other than short term economic pain. It’s worth it.

This boomer eradication virus is causing mass hysteria in young people. Makes no sense. Why are young people freaking out?

I certainly hope trump will be out and about shaking hands and meeting people since this is no worse than normal flu. But of course he is a liar and a hypocrite. He is 70+, overweight, and universally hated. Perfect for this virus. We can only hope.

We went from democratic and MSM hoax to national emergency in two weeks. I can understand your anger at republicans and fake religious people. They deserve to be punched in the face. Just as trump won’t take responsibility, if i am on the jury i will not find you responsible for throwing that punch.

    Amen.

By the way all those empty shelves. I can’t find toilet paper or bread.

Is capitalism supposed to be better than socialism or not? Because i can’t find stuff i need.

Socialism has proven it is best. North Korea has zero reported cases. Trump is dumb but Hillary would have done no better with Covid19

No. Capitalism still is best. But republicans are assholes. They paint anything that doesn’t maintain the status quo and their privileges as socialism.

I need healthcare: socialism. I need good air, water: socialism.

Our enemy are republicans. Not even the conservative ideas. The ideas are fine to work with. Just the people that call themselves republicans. They are the problem. Get rid of republicans.

Yes, make America a one party state, the Democratic Party. Not so bad because there could be a GOP faction, a Bernie faction, etc.

We already have a limited one party state system. California is a one party state. So is Wyoming.

Actually no. Democracy thrives when no one party, or special interest is too powerful,

California needs a thriving second party. We can’t just have a democratic party. That is a recipe for socialsm Venezuela style. We don’t want that. We want opposing views, healthy debate and people that can say what they want without fear.

I get this request often. I know s/he stirs the pot. But unless there is profanity or particularly egregious blasphemy, Debit gets to stay. Maybe Debit is just a troll. Maybe not. But as a general principle I believe the answer to speech is more speech.

@debit Thanks for having the courage to tell it like it is. Not many around like you anymore.

Also the Fed is more concerned with propping up the stock market than the ordinary people. Interest rates keep dropping in the banks. Pretty soon we will have to pay to keep our money in them.

One problem with “isolating yourself if you are sick”. After you are infected, it will be several days before you show symptoms; you will be infecting others and not knowing it.

I can’t believe all you people blaming Trump or the Democratic Party for this crap. You should be blaming the NIH and Fauci for his hand in manipulating a virus into the covid 19 we have amongst us today. Your anger is misplaced, just as the political parties hoped it would be.
The $hitstorm that is our current way of life is made worse by the idiots in charge that many of you elected. I wish many of these commenters would tear themselves away from MSM for an evening and really research the BIG PICTURE.
There is power in numbers – stop being compliant sheep and stand up for your freedom. If you dont, you deserve every bit of tyranny that comes from these morons in charge. and for God’s sake. let’s stop electing them!!

excerpt: The current social crisis, of which the health crisis is but one aspect, will only resolve with honesty, transparency, and respect.

Drug companies, regulators, public health agencies, doctors, and scientists have to stop patronizing us if we are ever to trust them. They have to stop manipulating us. They have to stop cheating and hiding, bullying and censoring, bribing and coercing the public. Then, if honest research shows us that the vaccines are necessary and safe, we may trust that research and comply. Until then, we will not merely “hesitate”; we will obstinately refuse to receive an injection pushed upon us by people we do not trust.

Honest laboratory, clinical, and demographic research, untainted by financial gain or political power and conducted in an atmosphere of trust, will reveal whether the vaccines are necessary and safe. We can never know for sure until honesty and humility prevail in government
