As Virgin America prepares to enter the Dallas market, American Airlines is offering double elite qualifying miles (EQMs) and redeemable miles (RDMs) on flights between Los Angeles/San Francisco and Dallas/Fort Worth from November 29, 2010 through February 28, 2011.
Unfortunately, the fine print (full T&Cs below) is anything but clear:
AAdvantage promotion is valid for round-trip travel on purchased, published fare tickets on American Airlines marketed and operated nonstop flights between DFW and Los Angeles (LAX) or San Francisco (SFO) from November 29, 2010, through February 28, 2011.
Does this mean the deal is only good for round-trip travel between these cities–in other words, you cannot book a Los Angeles to Boston ticket via Dallas and get the bonus miles for the LAX-DFW flight? Or do all flights between DFW and LAX/SFO count, no matter what the itinerary? Over on Flyertalk, different travelers have been told different things by AA agents.
The fine print also hints that co-terminal airports may also be eligible for the promotion. In the LA-area, this includes Burbank, Orange County, and Ontario. San Francisco includes San Jose, Oakland, and Sacramento.
And then this:
In addition, starting December 1, we are launching a ’15 Days of Giveaways’ promotion with fun and unexpected surprises on mystery flights between Los Angeles or San Francisco and Dallas/Fort Worth with giveaways such as American Airlines gift cards, AAdvantage miles and more!

You must register before you travel and can do so here.
