Final Hours For Lucrative Flying Blue Transfer Bonus

You only have until the end of the day to take advantage of a 25% transfer bonus to Air France/KLM Flying Blue from American Express Membership Rewards. This is a transfer bonus I have personally taken advantage of, hence the last-minute reminder.

As much as I detest the lack of transparency in a loyalty program operating without award charts, I’ve argued before that Flying Blue actually represents a dynamically-priced loyalty program that makes sense.

Sure, there are some rates that are outlandish. There’s also some crazy use of married-segment fare logic. At the same time, there are often truly remarkable deals available…and often enough seats for the whole family in premium cabins on Air France or KLM flights. In this changing world of loyalty, especially on the redemption side, this availability cannot be ignored.

Last-minute one-way intra-Europe tickets are also often available at tremendous savings over retail. Why pay hundreds of Euros when you can pay in some cases less than 8,000 points plus modest fees and no close-in processing fee?

CONCLUSION

These two “sweet spots” alone prompted me to transfer about 125K Membership Rewards points to Flying Blue. If you’re looking at travel to/from Europe or within Europe, I’d consider a transfer as well.

Careful. Their miles expire; so don’t be a long-range speculator.

This is only for US cards.
Not sure why they piss so much bonus away given the fact that earnings rate is already 4-5 times higher on US cards versus others.
This kind of giveaways leads to devaluation of programs
