Are you a museum aficionado? On September 25, more than 1,000 museums nationwide will offer free admission to celebrate Smithsonian magazine’s sixth annual Museum Day. You can search for participating museums and download tickets here. Each pass grants complimentary entry to two people, though passes are limited to one per household.
The Smithsonian museums in Washington are always free, but other museums can be quite pricy, making this offer very attractive. For example, regular adult admission at the California Academy of Sciences in San Francisco is normally $24.95 but will be free on 9/25. Other participating museums include the Dallas Museum of Art, in Texas, the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum, in New York, and the Adler Planetarium, in Chicago.
A number of museums in Philadelphia are participating, so I personally plan to take advantage of this generous offer.
Even some animal centers like the Charles Paddock Zoo (usually $10 for adults) in California and the Swaner Preserve and Ecocenter in Utah (also $10) have chosen to take part.
