An angry girlfriend blamed her boyfriend after she lost her AirPods in Las Vegas. Unfortunately, her decision to assault her boyfriend led to her arrest at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW), even as he declined to press charges.

This is a sad story and yet it is an instructive one. From the video below, we can put together the following fact pattern:
- A couple traveled together from Chicago to Las Vegas for the Super Bowl
- The couple share children but are not married: it seemed the trip was intended to rekindle the relationship
- While the boyfriend had ostensibly “sponsored” the trip, when they showed up in Las Vegas his pre-paid hotel reservation doubled in price once the resort fee was added on (a common problem…) and his cards declined…so she footed the bill
- On the way back (Las Vegas – Dallas – Chicago Midway on Frontier Airlines), the girlfriend left her AirPods in Las Vegas Harry Reid International Airport (LAS)
- According to the boyfriend, she “blamed him” and then assaulted him when he became upset and said he was canceling her ticket back
- She had left her belongings inside his car at Midway Airport, including the social security cards for other kids
- Her assault was captured on video and there was a witness
- The police showed up (body cam footage below) and interviewed both the man and woman
- Much to the boyfriend’s surprise (who said he did not want to press charges), his girlfriend…well ex-girlfriend…was arrested anyway for her action
There are many lessons here and many tragedies in this story. I’m not familiar with Texas law on domestic violence, but I’m not sure how locking her up in a Texas prison will make her a better mother or partner…
For those in a relationship, when one party threatens to cancel your airline ticket home…I’d say that is a critical sign to walk away (not necessarily instantly, but ASAP). When one partner cannot come up with the money to pay for a hotel room he invited you to, that’s a big red flag.
The tragedy is that they share children together and so, in some ways, he will always be part of the picture. In any case, I hope that both will find the peace they need and their children will grow up and somehow flourish…
A perfect pairing and a glaring example of just where America is today – I truly feel sorry for the children knowing that these two are their role models.
They need to declare the parents unfit and give those kids a chance at adoption, then spay and neuter the parents.
Given the article picture and audience here, I’m sure the comments section is going to be totally tame and PC.
While they are high and annoying, if resort fees cause your card to be declined maybe you shouldn’t be taking the trip…
There’s a lot wrong with the situation:
1) A “boyfriend/girlfriend” who share a child but barely get along.
2) The superbowl itself is expensive so if someone doesn’t have the spare cash to foot the bill for it, then they probably don’t have a safety reserve for rainy days. These are parents who should have better priorities.
3) His canceling the tickets back is a jerk move even under the circumstances of her behaving badly (just board separately and get seated somewhere else later)
4) DV is not ok. If “Ladies” shouldn’t be hit back, they shouldn’t be hitting. It’s not “cute” or “funny” particularly if someone is a parent.
5) It’s ultimately her responsibility to look after her stuff.
In answer to Matt’s question: A few days in a Texas jail is perhaps exactly what the Doctor ordered for her to learn about personal responsibility.
Per the Righteous Brothers, she lost that lovin’ feeling (as well as her AirPods).
Judge Judy used to end people ranting with a litany of character flaws about a partner by saying :” You picked them.” It’s a losing investment to get into the business of trying to change individuals.
The dark ones are always the worst.

Texas law on domestic violence is irrelevant here. You know why she was arrested. Just a sad truth for life in the Lone Star State. Surely she was released within hours with charges dropped, but that doesn’t excuse her mistreatment by the cops.

Well not exactly breaking news as the super bowl was nearly 5 months ago. Not sure why you would report such old stuff.
The total charges should be shown when one makes a reservation. Maybe he knew the card would be declined and she’d end up footing the bill. Kinda like “forgetting your wallet” when the restaurant bill comes.

I have sympathy with a guy who scrapes enough money for what he thinks is the hotel price, isn’t a frequent traveler, and then is surprised by the “resort” and other fees. If anything this proves why all these resort fees and taxes have to be disclosed when making the booking so that people know how much something costs and can budget for it.
Not everybody makes as much money or has the knowledge frequent travelers do. For people who earn far less money any trip can be a dream come true.
I wish the gentlemen that he finds more success with someone else and that for all of our sake all hotel fees and taxes have to be disclosed before booking.

Too much ghetto trash in the USA. These are the types of people that should not be having children.
They both act like the two parties that run our government — broke, overextended, and hateful.
Also, resort fees should be banned. Just raise the room rate.
