We celebrated my wife’s birthday in Paris, staying in a family suite at the Hôtel du Louvre, a luxury hotel that is part of the Hyatt Unbound Collection.
Hôtel du Louvre Review, A Hyatt Unbound Collection Property In Paris
Cash rates were over €800/night for a standard room with two twin beds, so I used my World of Hyatt Points for the stay. This is a Category 7 hotel, meaning free nights range from 25,000 points (low) to 30,000 (standard) t0 35,000 (peak) per night, depending upon seasonal demand.
The upgrade was an unexpected treat (I was a Globalist at the time) because this hotel does not accept Globalist confirmed suite upgrades. In fact, I was prepared to book two standard rooms (due to occupancy limits) but asked my Globalist rep if he could see about getting us an upgrade to a family suite since it was just a few days before arrival and several rooms seemed available. We got it…not something I would ever presume, but something I was very thankful for.
Check-In
We took an Uber from Gare de Lyon, arriving at the hotel around midday. The hotel is located between the Louvre and the Opéra Garnier, a very nice area in Paris that was bustling with foot traffic and bicycles.
Staff graciously checked us in, but informed us our room was not ready. We had brunch across the street at Café Kitsuné. By the time we were finished eating, our room was ready.
The lobby is small, but there’s a small seating area upstairs.
Room (Family Suite)
Our family suite, 527, was absolutely perfect for my family. When we walked in, my children were delighted to find a tepee in the middle of the room, along with bunk beds for them (nearly identical to the ones we have at home), and coloring books.
The bedroom was small but perfect for Heidi and me.
The room had a hot water kettle and Nespresso machine.
The bathroom did not have a tub. Instead, it had a large walk-in shower. I appreciated that the hotel had placed two kids’ bath kits from Le Petit Prince. Shower products were from Cordage, a Parisian brand.
Fitness Center
The hotel fitness center is large and features modern TechnoGym equipment.
Unfortunately, this hotel has no spa or wellness facilities like a sauna or steam room.
Cabin Prive
Did you notice the ” Cabinet Privees” sign above? While we did not get one, the hotel has small shower suites available for guests who arrive early or who must stay late. It’s a very nice amenity that is available upon request.
Dining
The hotel offers a restaurant, bar, and 24/7 room service.
L’Officine du Louvre
L’Officine du Louvre is “a tribute to Napoleon III’s passion for botany” and specializes in plant-based cocktails and a light, vegetal menu. It’s a beautiful space with a glass roof.
Room Service
We did something very touristy and climbed ot hte top of the Eiffel Tower. By the time we got back to the hotel, it was after 10:00 pm. Rather than go out to eat, we ordered room service. I had fish, Heidi had chicken, and the kids had spaghetti Bolognese. The pan-seared sea bass with ratatouille and green gnocchi was delightful.
Everything was delicious and so convenient.
Brasserie du Louvre
We had breakfast in Brasserie du Louvre in the morning at 10:00 am and the restaurant was packed. Service was understandably slow, but we enjoyed a very nice breakfast.
In addition to a buffet (featuring a salad bar, sliced meat and cheese, scrambled eggs, roasted vegetables, a wide assortment of baked goods, fresh fruit, cereal, yogurts, and breakfast sides like potatoes, sausage, mushroom, and bacon) there is an a la carte menu with hot drinks, French Toast, guacamole toast, eggs made-to-order, and porridge.
The food was excellent… everything we had was delicious and I appreciated the fresh-squeezed orange juice.
The coffee, though acceptable, was from Nespresso, which is not my favorite coffee.
As a Globalist, breakfast and gratuity were included.
CONCLUSION
We had a very nice stay here and while the Park Hyatt Paris is my favorite Hyatt property in the City of Lights, I’d return to Hotel du Louvre with my family again…the family suite was ideal for my family of four. The food at this hotel is delicious and the service was gracious and kind. Plus, the location is ideal for walking all over Paris (we walked all the way to the Eiffel Tower, though that was a bit ambitious…).

This hotel was a Concorde hotel, as was the hotel de Crillon.
I had eaten several times in the 2000’s there in the restaurant of the hotel. I can see it is still a good place where to eat.
Many years ago I did briefly stay here. It was a beautiful visit mostly remembered by eating the Opera Cake! ( a rich concoction of almond cake drenched in coffee liquor and several layers of chocolate ganache ). Fast forward to being a chaperone on my godchild’s school trip. The itinerary had us in Hotel du Louvre. I figured it was an error , or maybe it was to be Hotel du Louvre by Rouge Roof. And yeah we stayed at Hotel Rivoli. No opera cake for anyone.

The Brasserie du Louvre used to be affiliated with Paul Bocuse, one of France’s best chefs. I had dinner there a few times while staying at the Hotel du Louvre and the food was excellent. Glad the food quality was good even though the brasserie’s partnership ended.
The Hotel du Louvre is much more charming and true to the hôtels particuliers of the neighborhood. Great location, fairly new rooms, and good service in my experience (only 3 stays since 2022). Have to say the Park Hyatt Vendome is overrated with very small, dated rooms and caters to the jet set crew – buyer beware.

PS I’ve never stayed in a family room but it looks perfect.
I’m surprised by the decor of the room. It feels a little too bland and generic. More 3-star or 4-star than 5-star luxury.
