Delta is out with a new safety video giving Air New Zealand a run for the money in the humor department.
Well actually, the previous one did — I personally like it much better:
My favorite part — the star of the Overly Attached Girlfriend Meme makes an appearance. I had to laugh. My brother got me started on internet memes and you cannot help but to laugh out loud for many scenes in this video.
But the new one has its moments and like United, is a nice mix of humor that does not dilute the message but makes the presentation a bit more interesting. I am of the opinion that these safety videos merely fulfill a regulatory guideline rather than actually prepare people for a disaster, so I see no downside to adding humor to it. The key in any emergency is not to panic and no video, funny or otherwise, is going to take the place of the calming voice of a FA or pilot during an emergency.
