Five Hyatt Redemptions Worth Making Today

Matthew Klint Posted onMarch 18, 2019November 14, 2023 4 Comments

Today is the final day to redeem World of Hyatt points or free night certificates under the old rates. Many properties rise in price tomorrow. I’ve picked out five properties worth booking today if you’re even considering a future stay.

Four of my five selections below are moving from Category 4 to a Category 5. I targetted those properties because you will no longer be able to use your Chase free night certificates after the stroke of midnight Eastern tonight.

Park Hyatt Maldives

a house on stilts over water

The Park Hyatt Maldives is a beautiful hotel that will move up to Category 7 effective at midnight. As one of the priciest Hyatts in the system, I’m frankly surprised it has been a Category 6 for so long.

Park Hyatt Hamburg

a indoor pool with chairs and a large window

I quite enjoy the Park Hyatt Hamburg, which moves from a Category 4 to a Category 5. That category increase means you can no longer use your Chase free night certificate at this hotel. If you are considering a German trip, please note the Hyatt Regency Cologne is also going up a category.

Hyatt at Olive 8

a city street with a large building

The excellent hotel in the heart of Seattle will also move from a Category 4 to a Category 5. While paid prices are often decent, it still represents a great use of your free night cert.

Hyatt Regency Hong Kong Tsim Sha Tsui

a city with lights on the water

This property is centrally located, comfortable, and a nice use of points in a city in which hotels can be very pricey. It moves from Category 4 to a Category 5.

Andaz Costa Rica Resort at Peninsula Papagayo

a pool with rocks and umbrellas in front of a building

I’ve never visited this property, but my brother and his wife LOVED it. It moves from Category 4 to a Category 5.

CONCLUSION

Note that if you end up having to modify the dates, the new rates will apply. Still, for most properties, you have nothing to lose as long as you cancel at least 72 hours in advance.

Only the hongkong one represents good value and warrants speculative redemption

Papagayo is nice but what you save in room rates you forego in meal costs.

    Only idiots go to Maldives.

    Agree 100%. I’m 0/5 on these suggestions.

You missed the one with the largest potential appeal which is Andaz Napa

Andaz Napa is a good contender, but I don’t think my list is so bad.

And @debit–I loved the Maldives. Best fish I’ve ever had. A culinary adventure at a Hyatt of all places.

I guess I should write that review of Papagayo I have been sitting on for years now.
