How I Earned 7 Hyatt Nights By January 5th Without A Hyatt Credit Card

I took advantage of a well-worn World of Hyatt trick…perhaps for the last time…to start the year with a couple extra nights (even without a co-branded credit card).

Getting A Jump Start On World Of Hyatt Status In 2025

I may be on the cusp of losing my World of Hyatt Globalist status, but I’m trying to regain it already and find being a hotel free agent is a lot more difficult than being a free agent when it comes to travel.

We ended 2024 and began 2025 with a road trip and stayed at Hyatt hotels along the way, including the last two days of the year at the Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort and Spa in Santa Ana Pueblo, New Mexico.

Hyatt has an archaic back-end system that awards nights based on the day you check out, not the actual nights of your stay. So my stays on 12/30 and 12/31 counted toward 2025 since I checked out on 1/1. In fact, had I spent 60 nights at this property and checked out on 1/1, all 60 would have counted for 2025.

By the time we reached Chicago, it was five days into 2025 and I already had racked up to seven nights.

It’s little things like that will make a difference for me since I am not (currently) a direct Chase credit card customer. If I had the World of Hyatt credit card, I’d certainly have a much easier time making Globalist status.

Hyatt switched over to Sabre’s SynXis Central Reservation System in 2024 and I feared that might not only precipitate variable redemption pricing but also end the “check-out date” system. Apparently, it has not…yet.

I know it’s only a two-night boost, but it feels great to start the year seven nights.

Finally, if you don’t have the World of Hyatt credit card, please consider it…it’s a great all-around card and the annual free night more than offsets the annual fee. If you’re loyal to Hyatt, you need this card in your wallet.

It was great while it lasted.

Also took Lucky’s advice a long time ago with getting their business credit card too and I find having both worth it. I always manage to get Globalist with the extra boost from the cards.

Thanks for sharing a bit about what it’s like to not have Globalist status when you’ve gotten used to having it. I’m at 17 nights so far which is amusing since it’s only the 14th. It makes renewing status a lot easier though.

I’m confused. By my calculation, you should have 2 nights in 2025 due to your 2 night stay and check out on 1/1. Where did the other 5 nights come from? You stated you have no Hyatt credit card.

On the road rip, we stayed at Hyatt properties for the first five nights of the year. Sorry that wasn’t clear.
